ECONOMY MINISTRY: PRELIMINARY STUDY BEGINS ON FREE TRADE AGREEMENT WITH INDIA

Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development announced about start of preliminary study on free trade agreement, planned to sign with India. Georgia’s Economy Minister Giorgi Gakharia and India’s State Minister of Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman have signed respective document in New Delhi.




NATIONAL INVESTMENT AGENCY TO BE CANCELLED

The Parliament is considering package of draft bills, which envisages liquidation of National Investment Agency. After enactment of respective bill, the government will be given 30 days for liquidation.

BUDGET OFFICE’S FORECAST: ECONOMIC GROWTH IN Q2 WILL BE 3.9%

Budget Office of the Parliament forecasted that economic growth in the 2^nd quarter will make up 3.9%. The rate is by 1.1 percentage points higher than in the same quarter of 2016, the Office noted.




THE GOVERNMENT: 2,500 INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS WORTH 10B LARI TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN 2017-2020

The government declared that 2,500 infrastructure projects with total cost of up to 10 billion lari will be implemented in Georgia in 2017-2020. Out of total sum, 1.26 billion lari will be spent in 2017.

National Bank of Georgia reported purchase of $10 million on the currency exchange auction today.

Weighted average exchange rate made up 2.3913 GEL/USD.




ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT AGENCY: 243 PROJECTS WITH TOTAL INVESTMENTS OF 563M LARI ALREADY SUPPORTED WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM

According to latest data of Entrepreneurship Development Agency, 243 projects with total investments exceeding 563 million lari have been already supported within “Produce in Georgia” state program, started in June 2014.

Among them, 169 projects were supported in the field of industry, which total investments amount to 383.03 million lari, while total number of employees to make up 7,198.




TBILISI TRANSPORT COMPANY: CONSTRUCTION OF NEW MUNICIPAL CENTRAL GARAGE IS NEAR TO END

Tbilisi Transport Company declared that construction of new municipal central garage for 377 buses is almost brought to end. Construction was launched in the end of July 2016, while the garage should start operation in late May.




ENERGY MINISTRY CRITICIZES INCREASE OF GAS TARIFF IN SENAKI MUNICIPALITY BY “GASKO PLUS”

Energy Ministry said that gas distribution company Gasko Plus has increased gas tariff in Senaki municipality (Samegrelo region) up to 68 tetri that is “the highest tariff in the whole Georgia”.

The Ministry “totally shares mood and concern of population” because of the mentioned decision, which is “at least unfair”, the Ministry’s statement reads.

CREDITOR CAN REQUEST AUCTIONING OF STAKE IN LLC “GUDAURI”, BELONGING TO LLC “METECHI”

Tbilisi city court declared that those creditors, whose demand is not satisfied so far, can request realization of the LLC Georgia-Austria Joint Venture Metechi’s share in LLC JV Gudauri.

For that end, creditors should apply to the National Bureau of Enforcement within 15 days after release of this ruling.




ECONOMY MINISTRY: LLC “BIO-PLAST” TO OPEN IN MAY WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM

Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that in May, LLC Bio-Plast will launch operation in Lilo (Tbilisi suburbs) and will start manufacturing of biodegradable packing materials and litterbags.

The company purchased necessary equipment within leasing component of “Produce in Georgia”.
