GEORGIA AND CHINA SIGNED FREE TRADE AGREEMENT
Signing ceremony of Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and China was held in China’s capital Beijing on May 13. The document was signed by Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Gakharia and China’s Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan.
CHINESE SILK ROAD FUND AND GEORGIAN MINISTRY OF ECONOMY TO ESTABLISH JOINT WORKING GROUP
Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that within visit to China, the Minister Giorgi Gakharia held meeting with top management of the Silk Road Fund. The parties agreed on establishment of the joint working group, which will work on specific projects’ development, the Ministry said.
GEORGIA’S REPRESENTATIVE IS RECOMMENDED FOR THE POST OF UNWTO SECRETARY GENERAL
At the session, which took place on May 12 in Madrid, executive council of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) recommended Zurab Pololikashvili for a post of the secretary general of UNWTO. The decision has to be approved by general assembly (UNWTO), which will take place in China in September.

GEORGIAN-GERMAN INVESTMENT FORUM IS PLANNED TO HOLD IN GERMANY
Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with Germany’s Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Muller. Administration of Georgian government said that “at the meeting, consideration scoped continuation of active cooperation with Germany in the sphere of development that includes projects in a set of the important directions”.
AJARA GOVERNMENT: PRIVATE INVESTMENTS IN THE REGION INCREASED BY 17% IN 2016
In 2016, private investments in Ajara amounted to $428 million, the government of Ajara reported, specifying that 71% of this volume are foreign investments. As the government noted, volume of private investments has increased by 17%, if compared with 2015.
AGRICULTURE MINISTRY’S LAB RECEIVED NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
Agriculture Ministry reported that its laboratory received national accreditation. The matter concerns compliance of the lab with standards of ISO/IEC 17025:2010.

GEORGIAN PARTNERSHIP FUND AND CHINESE “CEFC” ESTABLISHED JOINT FUND
Georgian Partnership Fund reported about signing of agreement with CEFC China Energy Company Limited, which envisages creation of joint fund. The document was signed within the “Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation”, which was held in Beijing on May 14-15.
GEORGIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK ESTABLISHED
Signing ceremony of declaration on establishment of Georgian Development Bank was held on May 14 in China’s capital Beijing, which hosted “Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation”. According to Georgian Finance Ministry, authorized capital of the new bank will make up $1 billion, while paid capital – $300 million.
UKRAINIAN “ANDA AIR” TO START FLIGHTS TO GEORGIA IN JUNE
Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Ukrainian air company ANDA Air will conduct flights between Kiev and Batumi from June 3 to August 30. The flights will be implemented 2 times a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays) by MD83 plane.

NDI: SUPPORT OF THE EU INCREASED IN GEORGIA
Latest poll of National-Democratic Institute (NDI) revealed that after November 2016, support of the EU has increased in Georgia from 71% to 80%. “As in previous polls, support for EU and NATO is lower among older people and those in minority settlements”, NDI noted.
