ECONOMY MINISTRY: CHECK OF MINES IN TKIBULI AND CHIATURA IS BEGUN
Check of mines in Tkibuli (coal) and Chiatura (manganese) was started today, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared. An inspection is conducted by joint monitoring group, comprising of representatives of Economy Ministry and Ministry of Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection.

NBG: IN 2016, INTERBANK TRANSACTIONS IN NATIONAL CURRENCY GREW IN VOLUME BY 10.3%
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that transactions, conducted in 2016 on interbank market in national currency, amounted to 19.6 billion lari. If compared with 2015, the volume has increased by 10.3%, NBG said.
NBG: LIQUIDITY WITHDRAWAL BY DEPOSIT CERTIFICATES DECREASED AT THE END OF 2016 TO 200M LARI
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that liquidity withdrawal by deposit certificates decreased from 320 million lari at the beginning of 2016 to 200 million lari at the end of the year. In spite of absence of necessity of deposit certificates’ emission, emission of 3- and 6-month certificates had continued during 2016 in the minimum volume in order to maintain such securities on the market, NBG said.
NBG: IN 2016, REFINANCING CREDITS WITH INTEREST RATES OF 6.57-6.65% WERE ISSUED TO 3 RESIDENT BANKS, WHILE TO 4 BANKS – WITH RATES OF 9.07-9.5%
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that refinancing credits totaling to 1.24 billion lari were issued as of December 31, 2016, to 3 resident banks with interest rates ranging within 5.57-6.65%. Besides, refinancing credits of 862.2 million lari were issued to 4 resident banks with the rates, ranging within 9.07-9.5%.
TOURIST INFORMATION CENTER OPENED IN “BATUMI CENTRAL”
From now on, tourists coming to Batumi by train will be served by tourist information center located in the building of Batumi Central, the government of Ajara declared. As the government noted, it is the 9th such center in the region.
PROJECT ON HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT CREATION AND INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING TO BE IMPLEMENTED WITHIN “TWINNING” IN GEORGIA
Presentation of project on healthy environment creation and institutional strengthening in Georgia was held today in National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, which will be implemented within “Twinning” (public structures’ cooperation of European countries and Georgia). The project worth 1.3 million EUR is funded by the EU, Georgian Ministry of Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection said.

FINANCE MINISTRY: CHINESE “JUMORE” EXPRESSED WISH TO START BUSINESS IN GEORGIA
Georgian Finance Ministry reported that within visit to China, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili met with management of Chinese corporation Jumore. As the Ministry said, at the meeting, management of Jumore expressed wish to start business in Georgia.
TENDER ON FREE LICENSE BLOCKS OF OIL TO FINISH NEXT WEEK
Georgian State Agency of Oil and Gas reminded that applications’ acceptation for tender on development of free license blocks of oil will end on May 22. The tender was announced on April 3.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: LLC “MILI” INCREASES PRODUCTION WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM
Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that LLC Mili, located on Rustavi Highway, will increase production of barbed wire and nails within “Produce in Georgia” state program. As the Ministry noted, volume of investments in the project, being implemented with the state assistance, makes up 318,500 lari.

PLEA BARGAINING CONCLUDED WITH ONE OF FOUNDERS OF “DEXUS”
Tbilisi city court declared that consideration is completed regarding one of accused in the case of development company Center Point, initiated “on assistance to seizure of funds by deception, embezzlement of large funds and concealment of property”. The matter concerns agreement on property assignation, signed in 2010 between Center Point (Maya Rcheulishvili, Vakhtang Rcheulishvili and Rusudan Kervalishvili) and management company Dexus.
WITHIN WORLD RUNNING, 150,000 LARI WERE GATHERED IN GEORGIA
In Georgia, 5,000 participants were registered for world running (on May 7), and the collected sum amounted to 150,000 lari (participation fee made up 30 lari), organizers report. Running in Georgia was carried out already for the 4th time.
