“TI GEORGIA”: GEORGIA’S ECONOMIC REDUCTION IN 2020 BY 4% IS OPTIMISTIC EXPECTATION
TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, estimates that reduction of Georgian economy in 2020 by 4% is optimistic expectation.
In the analysis of the country’s state budget-2020, amended in response to the organization points that the government is going to save 547 million lari, while the government could do more.
ISET: CONSUMER CONFIDENCE INDEX IN MAY INCREASED IN COMPARISON WITH APRIL, BUT PRESENT SITUATION INDEX DECREASED
Georgian Present Situation Index, which measures how Georgians feel about the economy right now, decreased by 1.1 index points, from -45.3 in April to -46.5 in May, Policy Institute of International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET-PI) reported.
This decrease occurred, “as consumers remain concerned about their financial prospects and general economic situation at present”, ISET-PI said, summarizing results of poll of about 350 citizens at the beginning of May.
IN Q1, MONTHLY AVERAGE NUMBER OF VISITORS IN SEGMENT OF DOMESTIC TOURISM DECREASED BY 3.4% Y-O-Y, BUT AVERAGE EXPENSES INCREASED BY 4.5%
Sakstat reported that average monthly number of local visitors of 15 years and above amounted in Georgia in the 1st quarter to 887,200. This indicator exceeds by 3.4% the showing of the same period of 2019.
IN 2019, DEMAND FOR NATURAL GAS IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 15%
Annual report of Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission indicates that demand for natural gas in Georgia totaled in 2019 to 2.5 billion lari, increasing year-on-year by 15%. Growth was noticed mainly in household consumption, as well as heatstations’ consumption, the Commission explains.
COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: NEW PROCEDURES AND AMENDMENTS CONCERN ONLY APPLICANTS OF NEW BROADCASTING LICENSES
Georgia National Communication Commission declared that planned amendments in broadcasting licensing rules do not concern the existing broadcasters.
The procedures and amendments, envisaged in the published consulting document, concern only applicants of new broadcasting licenses, the Commission said.
IN 2019, COLD STORAGES INCREASED BY 40.1% PROCUREMENT OF PRODUCTION FOR ITS FURTHER SALE, WHILE DECREASED COST OF SERVICES BY 17.5%
Sakstat reported that in 2019, Georgian cold storages purchased 19,200 t of production with aim of its further realization. At that, cost of their services totaled to 13.2 million lari.
IN 2019, VOLUME OF PRODUCTION, SOLD BY ELEVATORS, INCREASED BY 5.4%, WHILE ITS COST – BY 16%
Sakstat reported that in 2019, Georgian elevators sold 377,400 t of production worth 290.7 million lari. If compared with 2018, these showings have increased by respective 5.4% and 16%.
