    PRIME MINISTER: WE SPOKE ABOUT STEPS, WHICH SHOULD BE MADE IN ORDER TO SECURE HIGH COMPATIBILITY OF ECONOMIES OF GEORGIA AND THE EU

    Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia met in Tbilisi with European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Johannes Hahn.

    “We spoke about steps, which should be taken in institutional, as well as in legislative direction, in order that compatibility of our economies was high”, Gakharia declared.


    THE PARLIAMENT FINISHED WORK ON THE STRATEGY OF DECENTRALIZATION REFORM

    Georgian Parliament reported that parliamentary working group finished consideration of strategy of decentralization reform, prepared by the government. The consideration was held during 6 months, and the working group consisted of all parliamentary groups, the Parliament specified.

    “The deep-water port needs responsible, serious private investors, whom we lack, unfortunately”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared. “That is the problem of deep-water port Anaklia”, he pointed.

    STATE AUDIT SERVICE: IN 66% OF CAPITAL PROJECTS, SPENDING OF ALLOCATED FUNDS MAKES UP ABOUT 30%

    Georgian State Audit Service said that this year’s state budget envisages 80 capital projects, which total cost makes up 2.35 billion lari.

    At that, the Service reported that in 6 months of the year, 27 projects are characterized by zero spending of the funds, allocated from the budget, while spending within 26 projects varies from 1% to 30% (in total, these two groups include 53 projects, i.e. 66% of total number).


    IN Q2, AVERAGE NOMINAL SALARY INCREASED BY 7% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in the 2nd quarter, average monthly nominal salary in Georgia made up 1,179 lari, increasing by 76 lari (by 7%) year-on-year. As Georgian statistics service noted, growth of salaries was observed in almost all sectors.


    DEPUTY BUSINESS OMBUDSMAN: REFORMING OF LABOR MARKET IN THE PLANNED FORM WILL NEGATIVELY AFFECT BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

    “Reforming of the labor market in the planned form will negatively affect a business environment”, Georgia’s deputy business ombudsman Guram Giorgadze declared.

    To note, Georgian Parliament is going to consider drafts of Labor Code and of law “On Labor Inspection”.


    IN Q2, NUMBER OF DOMESTIC VISITORS OF 15 YEARS AND ABOVE INCREASED BY 3.9% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in the 2nd quarter, monthly average number of local visitors in Georgia, aged 15 years and above (domestic tourism), made up 949,700. As Georgian statistics service noted, this number has increased by 3.9% year-on-year.


    IN Q2, AVERAGE MONTHLY EXPENSES OF DOMESTIC VISITORS DECREASED BY 9.7% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that monthly average expenses of local visitors in Georgia, aged 15 years and above (domestic tourism), amounted in the 2nd quarter to 118 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2018, the volume has decreased by 9.7%.

    HEAD OF TOURISM ADMINISTRATION: REPRESENTATIVES OF AMERICAN AIRLINES WILL STUDY GEORGIAN INFRASTRUCTURE ON THE SPOT

    Head of Georgian National Tourism Administration Mariam Kvrivishvili reported that the American airlines United Airlines and Delta Airlines will carry out thorough internal analysis of information on Georgia, provided to them. “Their visit to Georgia for study of aviation and tourism infrastructure on the spot is planned”, she said.
