ECONOMY MINISTER: WE HAVE SUPPORT OF INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS IN CREDIT AND GUARANTEE REFORM

We got full support of international organizations in our credit and guarantee reform, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili declared.

As the Minister said, he informed international financial institutions that “we expect them and we want them be represented in credit and guarantee fund as shareholders”.




NBG STUDIES EXPEDIENCY OF CRYPTOCURRENCIES’ REGULATION

Within studying of cryptocurrencies’ regulation, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) hosted Jens Muenzer from German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), NBG reported.

At today’s meeting, it was stated that industry of virtual currencies is at its starting stage of development and legislative or supervisory frameworks differ from country to country, being in most cases still in process of studying.

IN Q1, PRODUCTION OF MEAT AND EGGS INCREASED, OF MILK – DECREASED

Sakstat released estimation, according to which 15,000 t of meat were produced was produced in the 1^st quarter. If compared with the same period of 2017, the volume has increased by 9.5%.




NEW OFFICE AND TRAINING CENTER OF “SAKAERONAVIGATSIA” OPENED

New office building and training center of LLC Sakaeronavigatsia (Georgian Air Navigation) were opened today at Tbilisi International Airport.

The new center is equipped with system of Spanish company Indra Sistemas, while voice communication is provided by system of Italian company Sitti SpA, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reports.




IN 2023, GEORGIA TO HOST FREESTYLE SKI AND SNOWBOARDING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

In 2023, Georgia will host Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships, Georgian government reported. Competitions will be held in alpine resorts Bakuriani and Gudauri.




NBG: IN 2017, DEMAND FOR BANKNOTES OF 5, 20, 50, 100 AND 200 LARI INCREASED, FOR 10 LARI – DECREASED

In 2017, demand for banknotes of 50, 100 and 200 lari has increased by 11.9%, while for banknotes of 5 and 20 lari – by respective 13.7% and 1.4%, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported. Instead, demand for banknotes of 10 lari has decreased by 4.7%, NBG said.




NBG: IN 2017, INCOME FROM REALIZATION OF COLLECTIBLE AND NUMISMATIC VALUABLES INCREASED BY 7.2%

During 2017, 40,200 items of both collectible and numismatic valuables, as well as gold bars were sold, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported. Income from realization has totaled to 1.2 million lari, increasing year-on-year by 7.2%.

Georgian Partnership Fund declared that Kazakhstan’s KazMunaiGas will hand-over its share in Borjomi Likani hotel to the Fund. Respective agreement was signed in Astana (Kazakhstan) yesterday.

After conducted recalculation, Sakstat said that Georgian population in 2002 did not exceed 4 million people. General census of 2002 had recorded 4.37 million people, however.
