DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER: PROGRAM OF THE IMF IS MIRROR-IMAGE OF OUR 4-POINT PLAN
First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that program of the IMF, “which we have received, is mirror-image of our 4-point plan”.
Kumsishvili, who is nominated on post of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, declared the mentioned at committee hearings in the Parliament and noted that negotiations with the IMF were resumed in November 2016 and were completed in this April.
NOMINEE FOR THE FINANCE MINISTER’S POST: IT IS IMPORTANT TO INTRODUCE UNIFIED CYCLE OF INVESTMENT PROJECTS’ MANAGEMENT
Mamuka Bakhtadze, nominee on post of the Finance Minister, declared at committee hearings in the Parliament that “it is important to introduce unified cycle of investment projects’ management”.
“Within frame of the reform, respective study and analysis will be conducted before start of the investment project, which will provide ground for definition of economic benefit, which the country has to receive after financing of the specific project”, Bakhtadze explained.
DEPUTY PREMIER: WE PLAN IMPLEMENTATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS WORTH OVER 19B LARI IN 2017-2021
“We plan implementation of infrastructure projects worth over 19 billion lari in 2017-2020”, First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili declared. “This is only the budgetary investments in this direction”, he noted.
DEPUTY PREMIER: DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL STRATEGY ON LOGISTICS WILL BE COMPLETED BY END OF THE YEAR
First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that development of Georgia’s national strategy on logistics (for 2017-2026) and corresponding action plan (for 2017-2020) will be finished with assistance of the World Bank until end of the current year.
Adoption of these documents, which are designed by the French consulting company EGIS International, is planned for the next year, Kumsishvili said.
DEPUTY PREMIER: GEORGIA HAS TO BECOME THE HUB FOR ELECTRICITY TRADE
First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that Georgia has to become the hub, where electricity will be traded, similarly to that as it is in Turkey today. Corresponding infrastructure and legislation have to be created for that end, he pointed.
REFORM IS PLANNED IN SPHERE OF SUBSOIL DEVELOPMENT
“We have developed policy document and also strategy of how to reform sector of subsoil development”, First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili declared. In this direction, Georgia is supported by EBRD, he noted.
DEPUTY PREMIER: NUMBER OF INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS, FINANCED WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM, MAKES UP 254
First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that current number of industrial projects, which were funded by “Produce in Georgia” state program, makes up 254. That includes 92 objects, handed over for symbolical price (infrastructure component of the project), and credits, issued with assistance of the program, which totaled to 393 million lari, he said, noting that investments in these projects total to 687 million lari.
DEPUTY PREMIER: UNREGISTERED NONAGRICULTURAL LAND OF 659,000 HA IS INVENTORIED
First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that within the program of state property inventory, unregistered nonagricultural land of 659,000 ha is inventoried, of which 51,000 ha are already registered. The program was launched 2 years ago.
DEPUTY PREMIER: BUILDING OF OPTICAL INTERNET NETWORK IN REGIONS WILL START IN 2018
First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that in the next year, the government will launch building of fiber-optical Internet network in 4 directions. “The private sector does not enter these directions, as this is economically non-profitable”, he noted.
