    EASING OF RESTRICTIONS BETWEEN DECEMBER 24 AND JANUARY 2 WON’T BE APPLIED IN FULL

    Interdepartmental coordination council, created by Georgian government for fight against COVID-19, decided today not to apply earlier announced easing of restrictions between December 24 and January 2 in full.

    Maia Tskitishvili, Georgia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, explained after the council meeting that despite the fact that tough restrictions, introduced on November 28, had a direct influence on slowing down pace of virus spread and stabilization of epidemiological situation, rate of infection is still high.


    PRIME MINISTER: INTEGRATION IN THE EU WILL BE GOAL OF 4-YEAR ELECTION CYCLE

    Goal of the 4-year election cycle will be securing Georgia’s ability to application for the full membership of the EU, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared.

    “We should approach more and more standards in all directions – economy, business, culture, education, and do everything during the next 4 years in order to get the country ready” for the integration, Gakharia pointed.

    IN Q3, GEORGIA’S GDP PER CAPITA, EXPRESSED IN USD, REDUCED BY 5.7% Y-O-Y, WHILE INCREASED BY 0.1%, IF EXPRESSED IN GEL

    Sakstat reported that Georgia’s GDP per capita amounted in the 3rd quarter to $1,156, decreasing by 5.7% year-on-year. The same showing, expressed in national currency, makes up 3,586 lari (growth – 0.1%).


    IN Q3, AVERAGE NOMINAL SALARY INCREASED BY 1.8% Y-O-Y, WHILE SALARIES IN BUSINESS SECTOR DECREASED BY 0.8%

    Sakstat reported that in the 3rd quarter, average nominal salary in Georgia made up 1,239 lari. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has increased by 1.8%, or by 22.4 lari.


    IN THE STATE PROGRAM “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA”, LIST OF ELIGIBLE FIELDS IS EXPANDED AND SPECIFICATION IS MADE FOR SUPPORT TO TOURISM SECTOR

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about expansion of list of activity fields, eligible to investment within the state program “Produce in Georgia”.

    The Ministry said that among the added fields are forestry and fishery, manufacturing industry, provision of steam and conditioned air, manufacturing of various equipment and machines, logistics and warehousing, professional scientific and technical activities, healthcare and social services, etc.

    BY THE STATE OF SEPTEMBER 30, FINANCIAL LOSS INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED 2.2 TIMES Y-O-Y

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted by Georgian insurers in insurance of financial loss, totaled as of September 30 to 7.4 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has increased 2.2 times.


    COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: IN PRE-ELECTION PERIOD, BIGGEST INCOME FROM PAID POLITICAL ADS WAS RECEIVED BY “MTAVARI ARKHI”

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that income of Georgian broadcasting companies, received from paid political commercials during pre-election period (parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 31), totaled to 13.9 million lari.

    Biggest income was received by Mtavari Arkhi (Main Channel) – 4.27 million lari.


    EIB TO OPEN CREDIT LINE OF 10M EUR TO “PROCREDIT BANK”

    European Investment bank (EIB) will open credit line of 10 million EUR to Georgian ProCredit Bank. As EIB said, the credit resource is intended for assistance to small and middle-sized business’ efforts on overcome the crisis, caused by COVID-19.
