    MEMORANDUM AIMING ENERGY MARKET LIBERALIZATION WAS SIGNED

    On July 22, Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and Georgian Gas Transportation Company signed a memorandum of understanding with EBRD and Secretariat of European Energy Community.

    The memorandum aims to ensure long-term sustainability of Georgian energy sector and intensify efforts to liberalize energy market of the country, reported Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

    COPPER, CARS AND FERROALLOYS LEAD IN GEORGIA’S EXPORT FOR 6 MONTHS

    Sakstat reported that copper ore and concentrates were still a leading article in Georgia’s export for January-June. Export of this article amounted to $390.98 million (year-on-year growth – 2.5%) and made up 20.7% of total export volume.


    CARS, COPPER AND OIL-PRODUCTS LEAD IN GEORGIA’S IMPORT FOR 6 MONTHS

    Sakstat reported that in Georgia’s import for January-June, a leading position was maintained by passenger cars. Import of this article amounted to $371.4 million (year-on-year growth – 5.5%) and made up 8.6% of total import volume.


    IN Q2, VOLUME OF TRANSACTIONS BY RESIDENT ISSUERS’ CARDS INCREASED BY 60.4% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that transactions, conducted in the 2nd quarter by resident issuers’ payment cards, totaled to 10.96 billion lari. The volume has increased by 18.1% quarter-on-quarter and by 60.4% year-on-year.


    IN Q2, DOMESTIC ATM TRANSACTIONS BY RESIDENT ISSUERS’ CARDS INCREASED IN VOLUME BY 62.9% Y-O-Y, FOREIGN ONES – BY 71%

    National Bank of Georgia reported that in total volume of domestic transactions, conducted by resident issuers’ cards in the 2nd quarter (10.25 billion lari), ones made via ATMs accounted for 64.7%, or 6.6 billion lari. The volume has increased by 21.2% quarter-on-quarter and by 62.9% year-on-year.


    MINISTER OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: DURING 10 YEARS, 31B LARI WILL BE INVESTED IN SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONS

    Irakli Karseladze, Georgia’s Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, declared that 31 million lari will be invested during next 10 years in socio-economic and infrastructural development of regions of the country. He said this today, while presenting a 10-year plan.


    11.16M LARI SPENT ON GAS INSTALLATION IN MANGLISI

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that cost of the project on gas installation in Manglisi settlement (Tetritskaro municipality of Kvemo Kartli region) made up 11.16 million lari. The works were conducted by Georgian Gas Transportation Company by request of the Ministry.

    “GALT&TAGGART”: AS A RESULT OF COVID-19, FOOD DELIVERY SECTOR IN GEORGIA INCREASED 3 TIMES

    Galt&Taggart estimates that as a result of COVID-19, size of Georgian food delivery market in 2020 increased 3 times in comparison with 2019 and made up 167 million lari.

    Number of orders increased by 146%, up to 5.3 million, while average cost of orders made up 31.5 lari against of 26.2 lari in 2019 (i.e., increased by 20% year-on-year).
