GEORGIA-JAPAN CONVENTION ON DOUBLE TAXATION AVOIDANCE ENTERED IN FORCE
Convention on avoidance of double taxation on income and suppression of tax evasion between Georgia and Japan has entered in force, reported Georgian Finance Ministry. The Ministry specified that the new document replaced the agreement between the former USSR (one of which republics Georgia was) and Japan that was effective until now.
DAMAGE OF SYMBOLS OF PARTNER COUNTRIES AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS SUBJECTED TO SANCTIONS
Damage of symbols of the EU, other countries, with which Georgia has diplomatic relations, NATO, as well as international organizations, of which Georgia is a member, will be subjected to sanctions, reported Georgian Parliament. The Parliament’s Bureau discussed corresponding legislative amendments at the meeting today.

GEORGIA’S LOCAL EXPORT FOR 6 MONTHS INCREASED BY 27.6 Y-O-Y
Sakstat reported that in Georgia’s total export for January-June ($1.88 billion), local export (i.e. excluding re-export) accounted for 73.1%, or $1.38 billion. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume of local export has increased by 27.6%.
GEORGIA’S FUEL IMPORT FOR 6 MONTHS INCREASED BY 6.9% Y-O-Y
Georgian Oil-Products Importers Union reported that within 6 months of this year, Georgia’s import of petrol and diesel fuel amounted to 532,300 t. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume has increased by 6.9%, while if compared with the same period of 2019 (i.e. before the pandemic), the volume has increased by 7.7%.
CO-FINANCING PROGRAM OF AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY TO BE LAUNCHED
Georgian government decided today to launch a co-financing program of agricultural machinery. The budget of this grant program will make up 50 million lari.
NBG PUBLISHED SUPERVISORY STRATEGY FOR 2021
Today, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has published the supervisory strategy’s edition for 2021. The first edition of the strategy was published last year.

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that during the current year, commercial banks of the country will present their first recovery plans. In its turn, NBG will develop resolution plans for the banks.
