    BY 2020, GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT PLANS TO SPEND 200M LARI ON CULTURAL INFRASTRUCTURE, 300M LARI – ON SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE

    Thea Tsulukiani, Georgia’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, declared that up to 200 million lari will be spent on development of cultural infrastructure by 2030. Besides, 300 million lari is planned to spend on development of sports infrastructure, she said at presentation of the Ministry’s 10-year plan today.


    AS OF JUNE 30, VOLUME OF LOANS, ISSUED BY GEORGIAN BANKS, INCREASED BY 15.1% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that loans, issued by Georgian commercial banks (interbank loans exclusive), totaled as of June 30 to 39.8 billion lari. The volume has increased by 20.4% quarter-on-quarter and by 15.1% year-on-year.


    AS OF JUNE 30, DEPOSITS PLACED IN GEORGIAN BANKS IN NATIONAL CURRENCY INCREASED BY 4.2% Q-O-Q AND BY 24.2% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that deposits, placed in Georgian commercial banks in national currency, totaled as of June 30 to 13.9 billion lari. The volume has increased by 4.2% quarter-on-quarter and by 24.2% year-on-year.


    AS OF JUNE 30, DEPOSITS PLACED IN GEORGIAN BANKS IN FOREIGN CURRENCY DECREASED BY 9.7% Q-O-Q, BUT INCREASED BY 16% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that deposits, placed in Georgian commercial banks in foreign currency, totaled as of June 30 to equivalent of 21.4 billion lari. The volume has decreased by 9.7% quarter-on-quarter, but increased by 16% year-on-year.


    A 5-YEAR USAID-BACKED PROJECT LAUNCHED IN GEORGIAN ENERGY SECTOR

    A project, aiming to ensure Georgia’s energy future and energy security, has been launched with the assistance of USAID. Presentation of the 5-year project with total budget of $15.7 million took place in Gori today.


    TBILISI CITY HALL: LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE ON CONSTRUCTION AMNESTY ENTERED IN FORCE

    Tbilisi City Hall declared that legislative package, envisaging amnesty in construction sector of Georgian capital, entered in force today.

    At the city government meeting today, the Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared that the municipality will approve the rule and procedures, required for implementation of the law.

    COMPETITION AGENCY STARTED INVESTIGATION, FOLLOWING COMPLAINT OF “GPIH”

    Georgian National Competition Agency reported that it has recognized as admissible the complaint, filed by insurance company GPIH. Based on this complaint, investigation has been launched on possible violation of the law “On Competition” by the state LLC Sakaeronavigatsia (Georgian Air Navigation).

    NBG CANCELLED REGISTRATION OF 2 CURRENCY EXCHANGE POINTS AND FINED 11 ONES

    As a result of the inspection, carried out in tourist areas of Tbilisi, registration of 2 currency exchange offices was cancelled, while 11 offices were fined, reported National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

    NBG explained that these points did not provide customers with relevant information about currency exchange operations.
