    VICE-PREMIER OF CHECHNYA CONSIDERS THE PRESIDENTS OF CHECHNYA, GEORGIA AND AZERBAIJAN THE MOST IMPRESSIVE CAUCASIAN POLITICIANS OF THE OUTGOING YEAR

    Mr. Movladi Udugov has announced that he considers his visit to Georgia necessary, however, this visit should be carefully prepared. According to him, the all-Caucasian problems will be the major questions discussed at the negotiations, including the economic cooperation in the framework of the Caucasian region and the situation in the conflict zones.


    TBILISI DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE INTENTION OF SHAMIL BASAYEV TO MEDIATE FOR SETTLEMENT OF THE CONFLICTS IN GEORGIA

    Vakhtang Abashidze, press secretary of President of Georgia, has announced, that the Georgian administration has learnt about the intention of Mr. Basayev to invite Mr. Shevardnadze, Mr. Ardzinba and Mr. Chibirov to Grozny from the Georgian newspapers. According to him, the Georgian authorities have not received any official notice about it.


    SUPREME COUNCIL OF ABKHAZIAN AUTONOMOUS REPUBLIC SUSPENDS THE POWERS OF MP BORIS KAKUBAVA

    Chairman of Supreme Council of Abkhazia Tamaz Nadareishvili has informed about it. According to him, the activity of Mr. Kakubava, who heads the Coordination Council of the Organizations for Refugees, contravenes the policy of Supreme Council of Abkhazia.

    THE UNITED PLAN IS APPROVED FOR REALIZATION OF PRIVATIZATION IN SEPARATE BRANCHES OF NATIONAL ECONOMY OF THE COUNTRY FOR 1998-2000

    The plan was approved yesterday by the government of Georgia. It was worked out in accordance with the law on privatization of state property and the program on the second stage of economic reforms.


    ACCORDING TO THE PRELIMINARY ESTIMATES, THE INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISES WILL MAKE THE PRODUCTION AT 10-11M LARI IN DECEMBER

    According to the data of the ministry of industry, this parameter is by 5.6 million Lari less in comparison with the November parameters. It is mainly connected with outage of the Rustavi Metallurgical Plant and the RustaviChemical Combine.

    THE REPRESENTATIVES OF GEORGIA ARE INVITED TO THE FIRST CONGRESS OF THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE LOCAL WARS

    The congress will be held in Moscow on December 26-27. The deputy of RF State Duma Boris Gromov will organize it.


    PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA SIGNS A DECREE ON AMNESTY

    Rusudan Beridze, the deputy secretary of National Security Council on human rights and Internal Minister Kakha Targamadze said about it at the yesterday’s press conference. According to the decree, 307 prisoners and 75 persons sentenced to forced labor were already pardoned, including those persons, who were condemned for the first time and sentenced up to 5 years’ imprisonment.
