    ANTIAIRCRAFT DEFENSE TROOPS WILL HOLD EXERCISES IN GEORGIA FOR THE FIRST TIME

    Sarke has received this information at the press-center of Defense Ministry of Georgia. Battle missiles will be used in the exercises, which will be held on December 24.


    RUSSIAN SERVICEMEN HAVE TAKEN THE EQUIPMENT AT THE COST OF $10B FROM GEORGIA

    Defense Minister of Georgia Vardiko Nadibaidze announced about it at the yesterday’s press conference. According to him, this question was the main theme discussed at the recent Moscow meeting with his Russian colleague Igor Sergeyev.


    DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF PARLIAMENT OF GEORGIA LEAVES FOR THE WESTERN GEORGIA

    The visit, which began today, will last till December 27. Vakhtang Kolbaia, chairman of the interim parliamentary commission on the problems of refugees, will meet with the refugees from Abkhazia, as well as with the representatives of non-governmental and international organizations functioning there, in particular with the administration of UN military commissariat.

    THE PROCESS OF GEORGIA’S JOINING WTO CONTINUES

    As it is known, Georgia has the status of an observer in this organization. With the purpose of receiving the status of an equal member of the organization, a memorandum, defining the trade policy of the country, was submitted to WTO secretariat.


    NEW DIRECTION-INFORMATION SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS ARE ESTABLISHED ON THE CENTRAL MOTORWAYS THIS YEAR

    According to the information from Motorways State Department, the work will be completed in 1998. At present 10-kilometer motorway Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda is practically reconstructed.

    THE TERM OF GIORGI MAKHARADZE’S PUNISHMENT IS DETERMINED

    According to the information from the Georgia's Embassy to USA, a sentence is passed on the basis of several charges, among which there are manslaughter and 4 bodily injuries. As it is known, on October 8 Mr. Giorgi Makharadze pleaded himself guilty to all items of the accusation.
