IN 2022, PORTFOLIO INVESTMENTS’ OUTFLOW FROM GEORGIA WAS FIXED IN Q3 TOO
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in the 3rd quarter of 2022, portfolio investments in the country were negative, amounting to $1.05 billion. If compared with the same quarter of 2021, the volume has increased 6.5 times.
IN 2022, GEORGIA’S EXPORT TO TURKEY INCREASED BY 35%, IMPORT FROM TURKEY – BY 29.6%
Sakstat released estimation, according to which in 2022 Georgia’s commodity export to Turkey amounted to $435.49 million (year-on-year growth – 35%). In the reporting year, this country accounted for 7.8% of Georgia’s total export (against of 7.6% in 2021).
IN 2022, GEORGIA’S EXPORT TO RUSSIA INCREASED BY 6.8% Y-O-Y, IMPORT FROM RUSSIA – BY 79%
Sakstat released estimation, according to which in 2022 Georgia’s commodity export to Russia amounted to $651.63 million (year-on-year growth – 6.8%). In the reporting year, this country accounted for 11.7% of Georgia’s total export (against of 14.4% in 2021).
IN 2022, GEORGIA’S EXPORT TO CHINA INCREASED BY 19.7%, IMPORT FROM CHINA – BY 30%
Sakstat released estimation, according to which in 2022 Georgia’s commodity export to China amounted to $736.83 million (year-on-year growth – 19.7%). In the reporting year, this country was Georgia’s largest trade partner in terms of export, accounting for 13.2% of Georgia’s total import (against of 14.5% in 2021).
IN Q4 OF 2022, DOMESTIC TRANSACTIONS BY GEORGIAN ISSUERS’ CARDS INCREASED BY 39% Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that domestic transactions, conducted in the 4th quarter of 2022 by resident issuers’ payment cards, totaled to 15.7 billion lari. If compared with the 4th quarter of 2021, the volume has increased by 39%.
IN Q4 OF 2022, FOREIGN TRANSACTIONS BY GEORGIAN ISSUERS’ CARDS INCREASED 1.94 TIMES Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that foreign transactions, conducted in the 4th quarter of 2022 by resident issuers’ payment cards, totaled to equivalent of 1.84 billion lari. If compared with the 4th quarter of 2021, the volume has increased 1.94 times.

AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2022, NUMBER OF DEBIT CARDS IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 15% Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of December 31, 2022, there were up to 7.25 million debit cards in circulation in the country. If compared with December 31, 2021, the number has increased by 15%.
AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2022, NUMBER OF CREDIT CARDS IN GEORGIA DECREASED BY 2.5% Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of December 31, 2022, there were up to 570,770 credit cards in circulation in the country. If compared with December 31, 2021, the number has decreased by 2.5%.
