    UK AND GEORGIA SIGNED AIR TRANSPORT AGREEMENT

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about signing of an air transport agreement with the UK. The document was signed in London, within the 8th round of Georgia-UK Wardrop Strategic Dialogue.


    BEKAURI TO CHAIR GEORGIAN COMMUNICATION COMMISSION FOR THE THIRD TERM

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that its members have re-elected Kakha Bekauri as chairman for a third term until 2026. The secret ballot was held on January 26.

    GEORGIAN ROADS DEPARTMENT: 5 KM OF 9-KM KVESHETI-KOBI TUNNEL HAS BEEN ALREADY DUG

    At this stage, works are underway on the 5th km of the 9-km tunnel (diameter – 15 m) of the Kvesheti-Kobi highway (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), Georgian Roads Department reported. This will be the largest tunnel in Georgia, the Department noted.

    “CHINA SOUTHERN AIRLINES” RESUMED FLIGHTS TO TBILISI

    After a 3-year pause, caused by the pandemic, China Southern Airlines has returned to the Georgian aviation market, reported TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports).

    During the winter navigation season, China Southern Airlines will operate flights between Urumqi and Tbilisi (once a week, on Fridays).


    UZBEK AIRLINE PLANS TO START OPERATING AT KUTAISI AIRPORT

    In the near future, Uzbek flag airline Uzbekistan Airways plans to start operating at Kutaisi airport, Georgian Airports Association reported. The subject was discussed at a meeting, held at the Association office in Tbilisi.


    “GEORGIAN LEASING COMPANY” STOPS ISSUING NEW LEASES

    In a statement dated January 25, Georgian Leasing Company said that it stops issuing new leases, following decision of the supervisory board.

    The company assured that it will raise the necessary funds in order to fulfill the obligations, assumed during emission of the bonds.


    AT THE NEXT STAGE OF ACCELERATION PROGRAM IN GEORGIA, 13 COMPANIES WERE SELECTED

    Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology reported that 13 companies have been selected as part of the acceleration program in Georgia. Founders of these companies represent Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Germany, Uzbekistan and other countries, the Agency noted.
