    THE INTERIOR MINISTRIES OF RUSSIA AND GEORGIA DEEPEN CO-OPERATION FOR THE STRUGGLE AGAINST CRIME

    The session of the joint board of the Interior Ministries of Russia and Georgia has been summoned to provide the deepening of the relations for fighting crime. The law enforcement bodies have considered the questions on the organization of the co-operation, while investigation and detection of the crime, the measures on the disclosure and suppression of smuggling and illegal turnover of the ethyl spirits, alcohol and oil production, inflicting a great loss to the economics of the two countries.


    THE PERMANENT MEMBERS OF THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL STRESSED THE ILLEGALITY OF THE ELECTIONS IN ABKHAZIA

    This is stated in the announcement fanned by the Foreign Ministers of 5 countries – the permanent members of the Security Council. As it has been informed by the UN permanent representation in Georgia, during the meeting of the Ministers with the UN Secretary General Kofie Annan, the great attention has been paid to Abkhazia.


    IT IS UNLIKELY THAT CHECHEN BOYEVIKS ARE GETTING TO SVANETI

    This is the announcement made by the Chairman of the State Border Protection Department Valeri Chkheidze. He refuted the statement made by Russian Mass Media that allegedly the Chechen field commander Shamil Basaev and his armed group is going to spend winter in the mountainous part of Georgia – Svaneti, where Chechen emissaries already arrived.


    THE FRONTIER DEPARTMENT OF GEORGIA CONSIDERS ACTIVITIES OF RUSSIA AS THE VIOLATION OF THE INVIOLABILITY OF FRONTIERS

    This is the statement made in the announcement fanned by the State Border Protection Department of Georgia that has followed the Russia’s decision to change the restricting regime on the part of the border on the river Psou. Some concerns are expressed in the announcement in connection of the formed situation, as this decision causes some troubles to the frontier services and “is very advantageous to the Abkhaz separatists”.


    THE AMBASSADOR OF IRAN HAS FINISHED HIS DIPLOMATIC MISSION IN TBILISI

    The Foreign Minister of Georgia Irakli Menagarishvili met the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran Akbar Aminiani, who is leaving Georgia. As the ambassador declared, his country is attaching great importance to the deepening of the co-operation.


    GEORGIAN TROOPS HEADING TO KOSOVO

    According to the information delivered at the Defense Ministry, the Georgian soldiers will be placed in the German sector, together with the Turkish and Azerbaijanian soldiers near Prishtini. The squad of the Kojori center on civil operations has been trained in Turkey.

    THE TAXES ON THE INCOME OF THE GAS AND OIL OPERATIONS STARTED TO BE IMPOSED ON THE 4% PREFERENTIAL RATE

    This is envisaged by the amendments made to the Tax Code of the country. They noticeable liberalized the work of the investors on the oil, gas market.


    GEORGIAN DELEGATION PARTICIPATING IN THE IMF AND WB ANNUAL SESSION

    The Finance Minister David Onoprishvili left for Washington D.C. to participate in the session. Prior to that the Economics Minister Vladimir Papava, the president of WB Irakli Managadze and the President’s aid on the issues of economic reforms Temur Basilia went to the USA.

    TBILISI BRANCH OF THE EMLAK BANK WARNS ABOUT THE APPEARANCE OF FALSE LETTERS OF GUARANTEES

    In its official announcement, the administration of the Tbilisi branch of the Turkish State bank Emlak Bankasi warns that false letters of guarantees written on behalf of the bank may appear both on the territory of Georgia and beyond its borders. The administration calls for the banks not to accept these letters of guarantees and not to count them as legally operative.
