    GEORGIAN PREMIER PRESENTED PEACE INITIATIVE “STEP TO BEST FUTURE” AT THE SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, speaking at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, presented peace initiative of the government of Georgia, named “Step to the Best Future”, press service of the Premier reported.

    “With this initiative, we are fighting for stopping process of de-population of occupied territories and for ensuring protection of fundamental human rights”, Bakhtadze declared.


    GEORGIAN PREMIER: WE SET AS PRIORITY GREEN POLICY AND GREEN ECONOMY

    “Within policy of sustainable development, we set as our priority green policy and green economy”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared, while speaking at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly. At the same time, we develop digital economy, which will lift our country to qualitatively new stage, he stated.


    BUSINESS OMBUDSMAN AND COMPETITION AGENCY PLAN TO DEEPEN COOPERATION

    Today, Georgia’s business ombudsman Irakli Lekvinadze and Competition Agency chairman Nodar Khaduri signed the cooperation memorandum.

    The business ombudsman declared that “there are issues, which we considers together with the Competition Agency, and the memorandum will help to deepen our cooperation even more”.


    GEORGIAN PREMIER: TAXES IN GEORGIA HAS TO PAY EVERYONE, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER HE IS OWNER IN PARALLEL OF ANY MEDIA ASSET

    “Taxes in Georgia has to pay everyone, regardless of whether he is owner in parallel of any media asset”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared.

    This way, the Premier, being with the visit in the US, responded to a question asked about situation around Omega Group and its member broadcasting company Iberia.

    AS OF JUNE 30, GEORGIA’S TOTAL FOREIGN DEBT MADE UP 108.7% OF GDP

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that total external debt of the country amounted as of June 30 to $17.4 billion (42.7 billion lari). This volume corresponds to 108.7% of GDP for the last four quarters, NBG specified.


    IN Q2, GEORGIA’S NEGATIVE BALANCE OF INTERNATIONAL PAYMENTS MADE UP 8.9% OF GDP

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that negative balance of international payments of the country amounted in the 2nd quarter to $368.5 million (901.4 million lari, or 8.9% of GDP for the 2nd quarter).

    If compared with the same period of 2017 ($276.2 million), the volume, expressed in the US dollars, has increased by 33.4%, while ratio of the negative balance volume (in lari) to GDP – by 1.5 percentage points.


    AS OF JUNE 30, GEORGIA’S NET INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT POSITION MADE UP -152.3% OF GDP

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of June 30, net international investment position of the country made up negative $23.2 billion (56.9 billion lari). This volume corresponds to (negative) 144.9% of GDP for the last 4 quarters, NBG specified.


    NBG BOUGHT MORE $10M

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared about purchase of $10 million at the currency auction today. Average weighted exchange rate made up 2.6155 GEL/USD.


    MINISTRY OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: FRENCH SIDE BECAME INTERESTED IN PROJECTS, IMPLEMENTED IN GEORGIA WITHIN FORMAT OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION AND EASTERN PARTNERSHIP

    Today, Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure hosted delegation of the French Senate.

    At the meeting, the French side expressed particular interest in the projects, which are implemented in Georgia within format of European integration and Eastern Partnership, the Ministry said.


    CHINESE EXPERTS COULD ASSIST GEORGIAN SIDE IN DEVELOPMENT OF MEDICAL TOURISM

    Jia Xiao Fang, president of China International Health & Medical Tourism Association, put forward an initiative on signing memorandum with the Georgian side for development of medical tourism, Georgian Partnership Fund reported.

    The Fund specified that the memorandum envisages retraining of the Georgian specialists of medical tourism by their Chinese colleagues, who will assist them in receiving of qualification of the international level.

    LAND SITE IN KOBULETI MUNICIPALITY WAS SOLD FOR 810,000 LARI

    Within “50 Objects for Your Hotel” state project, new hotel complex will be created in Tsikhisdziri village of Kobuleti municipality (Ajara), Georgian Agency on State Property Management reported.

    The Agency said that for that end, investors (are not named) acquired for 810,000 lari the state-owned land plot of 3,303 square m with the destroyed structures.
