    COMPOSITION OF THE PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSION FOR TEENAGERS MURDER INVESTIGATION TO BE APPROVED THIS WEEK

    Chairman of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze declared that extraordinary plenary session will be held on June 6, at which composition of interim parliamentary commission for investigation of teenagers’ murder will be approved. The composition will be known by, approximately, June 5, he noted.


    CIVIL ORGANIZATIONS URGE THE AUTHORITIES TO CHANGE JUSTICE SYSTEM FUNDAMENTALLY

    Undue response of the authority to the current events and thousands of people, who went to protest on the streets, clearly indicate the crisis in the country, non-governmental organizations said in the released statement.

    Wave of public protest is not connected with problem of undue investigation of accident, which happened on Khorava Street in Tbilisi (murder of two teenagers in December 2017) only, but is expression of wider discontent, collected in society concerning justice system and social policy, the non-governmental organizations consider.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: TECHNICAL CONSULTATIONS ON FREE TRADE AGREEMENT WITH THE UK WILL BEGIN UNTIL END OF THE YEAR

    Technical consultations on free trade agreement with the UK will begin until end of the year, Georgia’s First Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili declared. Consultations aim preparation of the bilateral agreement to avoid interruption of free trade regime after Brexit, he explains (Georgia has one with the EU, which the UK has left in its turn).

    WITHIN “ITALIAN JUNE”, ITALIAN PRODUCTION TO BE PROMOTED IN GEORGIA

    “Italian June” is underway in Georgia, aiming promotion of Italy-made production, Italian embassy to Georgia reported. The initiative is supported by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE).


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: ICT CLUSTER WILL BE CREATED IN GEORGIA

    In Georgia, cluster of information and communication technology (ICT) will be created, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reports.

    The project, which was presented today in Tbilisi by Deputy Minister Giorgi Cherkezishvili, is implemented by the Ministry and its two agencies – for Innovations and Technologies and Produce in Georgia, with assistance of German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

    “LIBERTY BANK” TO PAY 776,115 LARI AS DIVIDENDS ON PRIVILEGED SHARES

    Liberty Bank declared about decision to pay dividends on privileged shares from profit for 2017. The sum, which should be paid, totals to 776,115 lari, making up 0.17 lari per share, the bank said.


    “GULF AIR” INCREASES FREQUENCY OF FLIGHTS TO GEORGIA

    Bahraini airline Gulf Air increases frequency of flights to Georgia during the summer navigation season, Georgian Civil Aviation Agency declared.

    In particular, from June 19 to September 11, Gulf Air will make 5 flights a week between Bahrain and Tbilisi instead of 3.


    “YANAIR” ADDS NEW DESTINATIONS IN GEORGIA

    Ukrainian airline Yanair launched regular flights between Kharkiv and Batumi, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. The company made the first flight today.


    AGARA SUGAR PLANT RESUMED OPERATION

    After 6-month conservation period, Agara sugar plant resumed operation with full load, business ombudsman’s office declared.

    To remind, the only Georgian sugar plant, which employs about 500 locals, stopped work oi November 1, 2017.


    FESTIVAL “ANAKLIA ECHOWAVES” TO BE HELD IN AUGUST IN ANAKLIA WITHIN “CHECK IN GEORGIA”

    Within state program “Check in Georgia”, new festival “Anaklia Echowaves” will be held in Georgian sea resort Anaklia on August 23-26, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reports.

    According to the Ministry, budget of the festival totals to 6.16 million lari, of which share of National Tourism Administration makes up 4.16 million lari, while remained part is undertaken by organizer of the event.

    CIVIL ORGANIZATIONS URGE TBILISI MAYOR TO BEGIN NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE SUBWAY EMPLOYEES IMMEDIATELY

    We urge the City Hall of Tbilisi and Tbilisi Transport Company to begin immediately process of negotiations with the striking employees of the subway, non-governmental organizations said in the released statement.

    Instead of assuming responsibility for traffic standstill of the city, Tbilisi City Hall tries to confer responsibility on the striking staff of the subway, the organizations stress.
