    GEORGIA RATIFIED AGREEMENT ON AVOIDANCE OF DOUBLE TAXATION WITH SAUDI ARABIA

    Georgian Parliament ratified agreement on avoidance of double taxation on income and capital and suppression of tax evasion with Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed on March 14.

    ANNUAL INFLATION IN MAY MADE UP 2.5%

    Sakstat reported that annual inflation in May made up 2.5%. At that, consumer price index did not change in comparison with the previous month (i.e. with April).


    IN Q1, TURNOVER OF BUSINESS SECTOR INCREASED BY 18.6% Y-O-Y, OUTPUT – BY 16%

    Sakstat declared that turnover of business sector amounted in the 1st quarter to 18 billion lari, increasing year-on-year by 18.6%.

    In total turnover, trade (including repair of cars, household goods and personal items) accounted for 46.3%.


    IN Q1, NUMBER OF ENGAGED IN BUSINESS SECTOR INCREASED BY 3.5% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in the 1st quarter, number of engaged in business sector made up 637,000. If compared with the same period of 2017, the number has increased by 5.3%.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: IN DIRECTION OF COMMUNICATIONS MARKET’S OPENNESS, GEORGIA ACTS WITHIN AGENDA OF ASSOCIATION

    Georgia’s First Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that in direction of openness of communication market, the country acts within agenda of association with the EU.

    “We have obligation to the EU, following from the Association Agreement, and the market will be surely opened in that sequence, which we assumed”, Kumsishvili said today, while addressing to forum “EuroDIG-2018” (European Dialogue on Internet Governance).


    IN 2017, RETAIL INCOME FROM FIXED TELEPHONE SERVICE DECREASED BY 7%

    In 2017, retail income from fixed telephone service in Georgia totaled to 46.5 million lari, National Communication Commission reported. If compared with 2016, the volume has decreased by 7%.


    FEE DETERMINED FOR WOOD WASTE PROCESSING INTO BIOFUEL

    By order of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, fee for processing of wood waste into biofuel is determined. The order entered in force on June 4.

    IN 2017, PORTING OF 57,355 MOBILE NUMBERS WAS CONDUCTED

    In 2017, porting of 57,355 mobile numbers was conducted, National Communication Commission reported. If compared with 2016, the number has decreased by 27.4%.


    IN 2017, NUMBER OF FIXED TELEPHONE SERVICE USERS DECREASED BY 13.1%

    National Communication Commission reported that by the end of 2017, there were 714,000 users of fixed telephone service in Georgia. This number is by 13.1% less than showing of 2016.


    IN 2017, “SILKNET” ACCOUNTED FOR 29% OF TOTAL COMPLAINTS, SUBMITTED TO COMMUNICATION COMMISSION

    National Communication Commission reported that its service of public defender received 283 complaints in 2017, including 114 written applications and 169 telephone calls.

    In its annual report, the Commission said that 29% of complaints was submitted against SilkNet, 17% – against MagtiCom, per 13% – against Geocell and Akhali Kselebi, 11% – against Stereo+, 10% – against VEON (Beeline).


    COMPANY “BRIGHT ROAD” TO EXPAND THROUGH “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM

    Within “Produce in Georgia” state program, company Bright Road will expand its operation, the Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s Agency Produce in Georgia declared. According to the Agency, investments in the project amount to 593,500 lari.
