    PUBLIC REGISTER: UKRAINIAN DELEGATION BECAME INTERESTED IN BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY’S USAGE UPON REALTY REGISTRATION

    National Agency of Public Register reported about visit of representatives of Ukraine’s State Service of Geodesy, Cartography and Cadaster.

    As the Agency said, Ukrainian delegation became especially interested in usage of blockchain technology upon registration of real estate.


    WITH UNDP ASSISTANCE, GEORGIA TO PREPARE THE 4TH NATIONAL COMMUNICATION AND THE 2ND REPORT ON CLIMATE CHANGE MANIFESTATIONS

    Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection reported about launch of new initiative in cooperation with the UN Development Program (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF).

    The matter concerns 4-year (2017-2021) initiative, which envisages collection of information on manifestations of climate change in Georgia and inventory of emission of hothouse gases, the Ministry specified.

    IN Q2, EMISSION OF TREASURY SECURITIES AMOUNTED TO 380M LARI

    Finance Ministry reported that emission of treasury bills and treasury bonds amounted in the 2nd quarter to 380 million lari.

    Total emission included 6-month t-bills of 40 million lari, 12-month t-bonds of 185 million lari, 2-year t-bonds – 70 million, 5-year – 65 million and 10-year bonds – of 20 million lari.


    DEMAND FOR DEPOSIT CERTIFICATES IN Q2 EXCEEDED EMISSION 3.4 TIMES

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that demand for deposit certificates (a discount security) 3.4 times exceeded emission in the 2nd quarter.

    In particular, total demand for the reporting period made up 205 million lari, while total placement (3 auctions) – 60 million lari.


    REFINANCING CREDITS IN Q2 INCREASED 2.3 TIMES Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that 13 refinancing credits (7-day) were issued in the 2nd quarter, totaling to 16.47 billion lari. If compared with the 2nd quarter of 2016 (to 7.14 billion lari), the volume has increased 2.3 times.


    CONSIDERATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT ON PROJECT OF RAILROAD CONSTRUCTION TO KUTAISI AIRPORT TO BE HELD IN AUGUST

    Georgian Railway announced that public consideration of environmental impact report on the project of railroad construction to Kutaisi airport will be held on August 11. Remarks on the project will be accepted until August 5.


    EXPERTS POINT AT ABSENCE OF RELIABLE SYSTEM OF CONTROL OF GEOGRAPHIC INDICATION FOR GEORGIAN DAIRY PRODUCTS

    “Yet although several Georgian dairy products are already registered as GIs [geographic indications], they have not generated significant economic benefits”, representation of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Georgia declared. As the representation said, main reason of this is absence of reliable system of control.

    “GR LOGISTICS&TERMINALS” AND CHINESE “CRCT” TO COOPERATE IN DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSPORT CORRIDOR

    JSC Georgian Railway reported that its subsidiary GR Logistics&Terminals and Chinese company China Railway Container Transport (CRCT) have signed memorandum of cooperation.

    The memorandum seeks deepening of cooperation between these two companies and creation of joint working groups, which will work on development of transport corridor and exchange of information, Georgian Railway said.


    PARTNERSHIP FUND: TURKISH “ANTGROUP” BECAME INTERESTED IN INVESTMENT IN GEORGIA’S AGRICULTURE

    Georgian Partnership Fund reported about meeting with delegation of Turkish Antgroup, which pays visit to Georgia. At the meeting, the parties discussed investment potential and prospects of Georgia’s agrarian sphere.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: WITH SUPPORT OF “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA”, GEORGIAN PRODUCTION IS EXPORTED TO QATAR

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that with assistance of “Produce in Georgia” state program, Georgian company Uvie’s Berries has delivered production to Qatar.

    Namely, Uvie’s Berries signed a contract with Qatari hypermarkets’ chain Lulu and carries out export of blueberry, vegetables and greens to that country, the Ministry specified.
