THE US VICE PRESIDENT TO VISIT GEORGIA
The US Vice President Mike Pens will visit Georgia on July 31 – August 1, Georgian government declared. At the government meeting today, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared: “This, certainly, is clear expression of the US support to Georgia”.

REAL ECONOMIC GROWTH IN MAY MADE UP 5.3%
According to Sakstat’s estimation, real GDP growth in May of this year in comparison with the same month of 2016 made up 5.3%. Average real growth for the first five months of this year made up 4.5%.
GEORGIA’S TOTAL EXTERNAL DEBT MAKES UP 108.2% OF GDP
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of March 31, total external debt of the country amounted to $15.7 billion (38.3 billion lari). This volume corresponds to 108.2% of GDP for the last four quarters.
GEORGIA’S NEGATIVE BALANCE OF INTERNATIONAL PAYMENTS MAKES UP 11.8% OF GDP FOR Q1
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of March 31, negative balance of international payments made up $337 million (981.2 million lari). This volume corresponds to 11.8% of GDP for the 1st quarter.
GEORGIA’S NET INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT POSITION MAKES 143.8% OF GDP
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of March 31, net international investment position of the country made up negative $20.8 billion (50.9 billion lari). This volume corresponds to (negative) 143.8% of GDP for last four quarters, NBG said.
THE GOVERNMENT CONSIDERED DEVELOPMENT PLAN OF BAKHMARO RESORT
At the meeting today, the government considered development plan of mountain resort Bakhmaro (Guria region). Before the meeting, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said that the plan envisages modern approach and vision that is prerequisite of proper development of the resort.

THE GOVERNMENT: SWISS “STADLER RAIL” CONSIDERS PROSPECTS OF PLANT’S CONSTRUCTION IN GEORGIA
Swiss manufacturer of railway rolling stock Stadler Rail AG considers prospects of plant’s construction in Georgia, Georgian government reported. Respective memorandum was signed in Tbilisi today.
“GEORGIAN RAILWAY”: SUBSIDIZING OF FIRST AND BUSINESS CLASS TRAVEL IS UNJUSTIFIED
Georgian Railway points that transportation of passengers in Georgia is the subsidized activity. However, “Subsidizing of travel in first and business class, which envisages use of additional services, is unjustified”, the company said in the statement, released recently in connection with adjustment of ticket prices.
REGULAR AIR COMMUNICATION TO START BETWEEN GEORGIA AND KUWAIT
Since July, Kuwaiti state air carrier Kuwait Wataniya Airways will start operation on Georgian market, Georgia Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. The airline will conduct regular flights between Al Kuwait and Tbilisi.
“RUSTAVIS TSKALI”: FIRST PHASE OF TWO STREETS’ REHABILITATION IN RUSTAVI IS FINISHED
Rustavis Tskali (Rustavi Water, water supply company of Rustavi) declared that first stage of rehabilitation works on two streets in Rustavi (Tashkent and Shartava) has been finished. The company has spent 500,000 lari for that stage.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: LLC “ELSELEMA” WILL EXPAND ACTIVITY WITH ASSISTANCE OF “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM
Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that LLC Elselema plans restoration of sewing enterprise in Lanchkhuti (Guria region) and installation of modern equipment there with assistance of “Produce in Georgia” state program. The enterprise should be launched in September.
