GEORGIA AND AFGHANISTAN CONSIDER DEEPENING OF COOPERATION IN TRADE-ECONOMIC AND TRANSPORT SPHERES
Within one-day visit to Georgia, Afghanistan’s Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi met Georgia’s Prime Minister, Ministers of Finance and Economy, administration of Georgian government reports. As the administration said, the parties discussed issues of bilateral relations, paying attention to prospects of cooperation deepening in trade-economic and transport spheres.

AGRICULTURE MINISTER: NEGATIVE TRADE BALANCE OF AGROFOOD SECTOR DECREASED TO $270M
Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili declared that negative trade balance of agrofood sector amounted in 2012 to $800 million. In 2016, this showing has decreased to about $270 million (i.e. almost 3 times), he stressed.
OBLIGATORY ONE-TIME INSURANCE TO BE EXPANDED ON OWNERS OF TRANSIT TRANSPORT
Head of State Service for Insurance Supervision Konstantin Sulamanidze declared that one-time obligatory insurance will regulate liabilities of owners of foreign vehicles, passing Georgian territory, to third party (victim) in case of road accident. Sulamanidze presented today draft of corresponding legislative amendments at the meeting of the Parliament’s Committee for Healthcare and Social Issues.

State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted as of March 31 in property insurance totaled to 12.4 million lari, increasing year-on-year by 21.3%. This kind of insurance accounts for 8.6% of total premium for the period.
FREIGHT INSURANCE PREMIUM IN Q1 INCREASED BY 15.1% Y-O-Y
State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted as of March 31 in freight insurance totaled to 1.4 million lari, increasing year-on-year by 15.1%. This kind of insurance accounts for 1% of total premium for the period.
OBLIGATIONS INSURANCE PREMIUM IN Q1 DECREASED BY 21.9% Y-O-Y
State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted as of March 31 in obligations totaled to 1.26 million lari, decreasing year-on-year by 21.9%. This kind of insurance accounts for 0.9% of total premium for the period.

Anaklia Development Consortium declared about completion of process of operator’s selection for container terminal of Anaklia port. The winner became American SSA Marine, which was selected from 7 companies, the Consortium said.

Finance Ministry reported that European Investment Bank (EIB) plans to allocate credit to bank Credo. According to the Ministry, the credit will amount to no more than $5 million.

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development authorized National Agency of State Property to conduct expropriation for urgent public needs. The matter concerns land plots of 10 private owners with total area of 7,388 square m, located in Anaklia.
