    ECONOMY MINISTER: GEORGIAN ECONOMY IS QUITE DIVERSIFIED, BUT KEEP OF TRADITIONAL MARKETS IS IMPORTANT FOR US

    “Today, Georgian economy is quite diversified”, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared.

    At that, the Minister pointed at 13%, for which Russia accounts in Georgia’s total export.


    BUSINESS OMBUDSMAN: TODAY, CHALLENGE FOR BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT IS EXPECTED DECREASE OF INCOME FROM RUSSIAN MARKET AND LARI EXCHANGE RATE

    Today, challenge for Georgian business environment is expected reduction of income from Russian market and lari exchange rate, Georgia’s business ombudsman Irakli Lekvinadze declared. He declared this after Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze’s meeting with representatives of Georgian Business Association’s member companies today.

    LARI SUPPLY IN JUNE INCREASED BY 20.2% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that volume of Georgian national currency (lari) supply amounted as of June 30 to 3.75 billion lari.

    If compared with the same period of 2018, the volume has increased by 20.2% (by 630.7 million lari).


    “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” AGENCY: ONE OF HOLLYWOOD MOVIES WILL BE SHOT IN GEORGIA

    Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s Agency Produce in Georgia declared that shooting of one of Hollywood movies (is not specified) will take place in Georgia within “Make a Film in Georgia” state program.

    As the Ministry noted, the decision was made during Hollywood filmmakers’ visit to Georgia from April 26 to May 2.

    “GEORGIAN AIRWAYS” RAISES FREQUENCY OF FLIGHTS TO YEREVAN

    Since July 10, Georgian Airways will launch regular flights to Yerevan from Batumi, Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported. The flights will be made daily (i.e. 7 times a week) during a summer navigation season.

    By decision of Georgian Financial Group BV, former vice-president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Murtaz Kikoria to be appointed independent member of supervisory council of Liberty Bank. He will occupy this position for 4 years.


    “T&K RESTAURANTS” TO BUILT ONE MORE “MCDONALD’S” RESTAURANT IN TBILISI

    T&K Restaurants will build another McDonald’s restaurant in Tbilisi, Georgian National Agency of State Property declared. For that end, the company is going to invest at least 6 million lari, while employing not less than 35 people, the Agency noted.


    “RIKE-2016” GOT ABANDONED TEA PLANTATIONS IN ZUGDIDI MUNICIPALITY

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that abandoned state-owned tea plantations in the village of Rike (Zugdidi municipality of Samegrelo region) with total area of 11.8 ha were handed over to LLC Rike-2016.

    The Ministry noted that the property was handed over within the state program of tea plantations’ rehabilitation.

    “IPM”: IN 2016-2018, GEORGIA’S SECOND CITIZENSHIP WAS OBTAINED BY 41,631 RUSSIANS

    Referring to Georgian Justice Ministry, Tbilisi-based market research company Institute for Polling and Marketing (IPM) reported that in 2016-2018, Georgia’s second citizenship was obtained by 41,631 citizens of Russia.

    For comparison, the company provided data, according to which the dual citizenship was obtained during the mentioned period by 2,336 citizens of Turkey and 1,222 citizens of Azerbaijan.


    RESEARCH RESULTS: 71% OF GEORGIAN POPULATION TRUST THE EU

    Referring to results of public opinion research, the EU representation in Georgia reported that 71% of Georgian population trust the EU. The representation pointed that the result did not change after 2018.
