    THE GOVERNMENT TO TERMINATE AGREEMENT WITH “ANAKLIA DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM”

    Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported that the government of the country decided to launch procedures for termination of investment agreement with Anaklia Development Consortium.

    The matter concerns the BOT (build-operate-transfer) agreement on deep-water port in Anaklia, signed on October 3, 2016.


    MINISTER OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: THE GOVERNMENT STARTS SEARCH OF NEW INVESTOR FOR ANAKLIA PORT

    Georgia’s Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili said that the government of the country launches procedures of search of new investor for construction of deep-water port in Anaklia. “This project belongs to the state, but not to any private investor”, she declared to journalists after the government meeting today.


    “ANAKLIA DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM” PLANS TO COMPLAIN IN ARBITRATION COURT

    Anaklia Development Consortium plans to complain in arbitration court, the Consortium executive director Levan Akhvlediani declared. He specified, however, that “the claim is not drawn yet” and refrained from speaking on details.

    NATIONAL STRATEGY OF BROADBAND NETWORK DEVELOPMENT IN GEORGIA FOR 2020-2025 IS APPROVED

    At the meeting today, Georgian government approved national strategy of broadband network development in Georgia for 2020-2025. Besides, amendments to the state program of broadband infrastructure development were discussed, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.


    PRIME MINISTER: AVERAGE SALARY OF FULL-TIME VOCATIONAL TEACHERS WILL MAKE UP ABOUT 1,800 LARI

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared that “According to question, presented by the Education Ministry, hourly payment to vocational teachers will be considerably increased”. “The average salary of the full-time teachers will amount to about 1,800 lari” in a month, he said at the government meeting today.


    WITHIN THE PROGRAM “100 INVESTMENT OFFERS TO BUSINESS”, ABOUT 40 OBJECTS ARE PRIVATIZED

    Since launch of the program “100 Investment Offers to Business” (end of 2019), about 40 objects worth 47.68 million lari are privatized till present, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava reported.

    Out of total number, 10 objects are privatized already in the current year, the Minister noted.


    IN 2019, PASSENGER TRAFFIC IN TBILISI AIRPORT DECREASED BY 3%, WHILE IN KUTAISI AIRPORT – INCREASED BY 42%

    In 2019, Georgian airports served 5.2 million passengers, Georgian Airports Association reported. The state-owned company noted that this indicator has increased by 3% year-on-year.

    THE GOVERNMENT NEGOTIATES WITH “SOCAR GEORGIA GAS” REGARDING INVESTMENTS’ REFLECTION IN DISTRIBUTION TARIFF

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that Georgian government holds negotiations with SOCAR Georgia Gas and Sakorggazi (regional gas distributors) regarding reflection of their investments in gas distribution tariff.

    The Commission said that it will discuss setting of long-term tariffs for the companies after completion of the negotiations.


    “HTM HELICOPTER TRAVEL MUNICH” AUTHORIZED FOR FLIGHTS IN GUDAURI AND MESTIA

    On January 6, German HTM Helicopter Travel Munich GmbH got permission for flights in winter resort areas, Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported.

    Flights in areas of mountain resorts Gudauri (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region) and Mestia (Svaneti region) will be made until April 29.

    REGULATING COMMISSION WARNED TV COMPANY “OBIEKTIVI” BECAUSE OF BROADCASTING IN RUSSIAN

    Georgian National Communication Commission warned non-entrepreneur media union Obiektivi (the TV company, connected with pro-Russian party Alliance of Patriots) in connection with placement on air of telecasts in non-state language.

    The matter concerns socio-political broadcasts, which went on the air of the TV company in Russian without the Georgian subtitlings.
