    WORK OVER THE AGREEMENT ON PEACE AND GUARANTEES OF NON-RESUMPTION OF MILITARY ACTIVITIES IN ABKHAZIA WILL CONTINUE

    Dieter Boden the special representative of the UN Secretary General made this announcement on August 14 after returning from Sukhumi. According to him, except for this agreement the Special Errands Minister Malkhaz Kakabadze and the personal representative of the President of the self-proclaimed Republic Anri Jergenia will continue working also over protocols on returning refugees to Gali region and measures on the rehabilitation of Abkhazia’s economy.


    ASLAN ABASHIDZE MET WITH MICHAEL EMERSON

    The head of the European Center of Political Research (Brussels) handed the text of the program “Keeping Stability in the South Caucasus”, worked out by this center to the Ajara leader.     PRESIDENT ASSUMING MEASURES FOR HOLDING THE DAY OF GEORGIA AT EXPO-2000

    According to the order of Eduard Shevardnadze, signed on August 14, the Finance Ministry is assigned to allocated assets from the President’s Fund in order to cover expenses for furnishing the Georgian stand and providing its normal functioning during the Hannover exhibition. The Ministry of Culture is ordered to prepare the cultural program for the Georgian day, which will be held on August 29.

    BCCK ENGINEERING IS GOING TO BUILD THE METHANE PRODUCTION FACTORY IN TKIBULI

    The Ministry of Fuel and Energy and the JSC Saknakhshiri (Georgian Coal) signed in Tbilisi the memorandum with the US company at the end of the last week. According to the Ministry, the factory, BCCK Engineering is going to build at the local coalfield with its own technology, will consist of 6 units with the capacity of 150 mW.


    KUTAISI AUTOMOBILE FACTORY WILL START EXPORT TO AFRICA IN SEPTEMBER

    The government of Cote D’Ivoire placed an order on delivery of 30 automobiles during the recent visit of the head of the factory to Africa. Automobiles will be specially made regarding the conditions in Africa.

    RAILROADERS HOLDING THE PROTEST ACTIONS

    The employees of the Khashuri-Junction station held the protest action against the possible privatization of the railway on August 13. The similar action was held at the passenger depot as well.


    POLICE IDENTIFIED CRIMINALS ATTACKING GERMAN TOURISTS

    According to the Interior Ministry, they will be arrested soon. The criminals attacked the group of 30 tourists at the high-mountain Mestia district (Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region) on August 13.
