A PRESS-CONFERENCE OF THE PRESIDENTS OF GEORGIA AND BULGARIA
According to President of Bulgaria, Mr. Shevardnadze’s visit was marked by complete concurrence of views not only in the bilateral relations, but also in the global processes occurring in the world. He announced, that Bulgaria completely supports the principle of territorial integrity and by that safeguarding of peace in this region.
AN OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE GEORGIAN DELEGATION TO BULGARIA IS COMPLETED
During the visit the presidents of Georgia and Bulgaria Eduard Shevardnadze and Peter Stoyanov signed a declaration on development and cooperation of the two countries, foreign ministers Irakli Menagarishvili and Nadezhda Mikhailova signed a consular convention between Georgia and Bulgaria. The ministers for transport and trade signed a protocol on cooperation between the departments for realization of transcontinental communication European Corridor 8 – TRACECA.
THE GEORGIAN DELEGATION LEAVES FOR JAPAN
Today the governmental delegation headed by State Minister Niko Lekishvili left for Japan on a working visit. The members of the delegation are the President of Georgian International Oil Company Giorgi Tchanturia and the head of the UnitedGeorgian Bank Vano Chkhartishvili.
A SPECIAL SESSION OF PARLIAMENT OF GEORGIA IS OPENED
Today, on initiative of the factions, which represent the parliamentary opposition, a special session of the supreme legislative body of Georgia was opened. The agenda was approved by the parliamentary majority on December 15.
NOTHING HAS CHANGED AT THE FRONTIER POINT IN LARSI
Paata Chkareuli, the deputy head of the administration of Kazbegi Region of Georgia, has informed Sarke about it. According to him, Russian frontier-guards still occupy the post, thus moving the frontier by 1,300 meters up the neutral zone.
THE DEPUTY STATE MINISTER OF GEORGIA RECEIVES THE DELEGATION OF US YOUNG POLITICIANS
Mr. Zaza Shengelia has acquainted the guests with the political situation in the country, the problems of domestic and foreign policy, economy and culture of the country, as well as with the reforms carried out in the country and the development of the relations with other countries. Young politicians showed their interest in the questions of privatization and realization of the project of Eurasian corridor and the progress of settlement of the conflicts in Georgia.

PRESIDENT OF GAZPROM WILL ARRIVE IN GEORGIA ON A WORKING VISIT
On December 17 the head of Russian Gazprom Rem Vyakhirev will arrive in Georgia on a working visit. Commenting the forthcoming visit, State Minister Niko Lekishvili announced, that Georgian power specialists have interesting, mutually beneficial offers to their Russian colleagues in the field of transit of Russian gas through the territory of Georgia and its delivery to the population of the country.
THE BUDGET STIPULATES ALLOCATION OF 1.2M LARI ON RECONSTRUCTION OF WATER-SYSTEM OF GEORGIA
As it was marked at the today’s briefing at the ministry of public health, the specific attention will be paid to the situation in the regions, the control over the water quality will be strengthened and in the case of violation of sanitary standards water supply will be ceased. It was also said, that at present 18 brigades are realizing 10-day program on mass examination of the Rustavi population (as it is known, an epidemic was caused by mixing sewage with drinking water).
THE PROJECT OF GEORGIAN SOCIAL INVESTMENTS FUND ON REFORMING THE SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE WILL BE REALIZED FROM 1998 WITHIN 4 YEARS
As it is known, WB has allocated $20 million on this project for Georgian Social Investments Fund ($500,000 out of this sum was allocated before). Temur Basilia, assistant of President on economic reform has informed Sarke, that thisis the third project of USAID in the sphere of reforming the social infrastructure.

THE NEXT BRIEFING WAS HELD AT THE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC HEALTH
Today Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze told the journalists, that on December 10-12 he visited 4 Georgian servicemen, who were radiated at the military base in Lilo and are now undergoing a treatment in France. A leg of one serviceman, who kept a capsule with cesium in his pocket, causes the anxiety of the doctors.
THE UNITED SYSTEM OF STATE INSURANCE IN THE SPHERE OF PUBLIC HEALTH WILL ACT IN GEORGIA FROM 1999
This question was discussed at the today’s briefing at the ministry of public health. This year the medical insurance of 300,000 persons, out of them 100,000 refugees, was financed from the state budget.
