    PRIME MINISTER: THERE WILL BE NO TOUGH LOCKDOWNS, RESTRICTIONS, PRIORITY IS ECONOMIC RECOVERY OF THE COUNTRY

    “I want to emphasize that there will be no more tough lockdowns, restrictions”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared at the government meeting today. As he noted, clear trend of growth of COVID-19 infection is seen, but “the situation is completely under control and manageable”.


    IDFI: EMPLOYMENT WITH ADMINISTRATIVE CONTRACTS RAISES RISKS OF NEPOTISM AND IRRATIONAL DISPOSITION OF BUDGETARY FUNDS

    Non-governmental organization Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) estimates that employment by the ministries and their subordinated agencies of persons with administrative contracts raises risks of nepotism and irrational disposition of budgetary funds.

    “With administrative contract, persons are appointed without competition, while simplified public competition announced for recruiting with labor contract and authorized person makes decision only on the basis of interview”, the organization specifies.

    THE EU PROJECT “STRENGTHENING OF SYSTEM OF SAFE BLOOD IN GEORGIA” IS LAUNCHED

    Today, presentation of “Strengthening of System of Safe Blood in Georgia” project was held in Tbilisi, which is implemented within “Twinning” program of the EU (cooperation of European and local state departments). Budget of the project totals to 1.3 million EUR, the EU representation in Georgia noted.


    NATIONAL TOURISM ADMINISTRATION AND “MASTERCARD” AGREED ON COOPERATION

    Today, Georgian National Tourism Administration and MasterCard Europe signed in Tbilisi a memorandum of understanding. The signing ceremony took place within the 112th meeting of executive council of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which held being underway in Georgian capital.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: IN 2020, WE SUPPORTED INVESTMENT PROJECTS OF 10 NEW HOTELS

    Natia Turnava, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, declared that “in 2020, even in these limited conditions, we supported investment projects of 10 new hotels”.

    Within the “Host in Georgia” state program, 129 hotels are financed countrywide, while investments total to $130 million, the Minister indicated.

    “WIZZ AIR” TO RESUME FLIGHTS FROM KUTAISI

    Georgian government decided to authorize Hungarian low-coster Wizz Air to resume flights since October 1.

    Flights from Kutaisi in the direction of Riga (Latvia) will be made once a week, administration of the government reported.


    AS OF JUNE 30, FINANCIAL LOSS INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED 2.3 TIMES Y-O-Y

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted by Georgian insurance companies from financial loss insurance, totaled as of June 30 to 5.06 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has increased 2.3 times.


    AS OF JUNE 30, TRAVEL INSURANCE PREMIUM HALVED Y-O-Y

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted by Georgian insurance companies from travel insurance, totaled as of June 30 to 1.9 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has decreased 2 times.


    IN 6 MONTHS, SENT SMS REDUCED BY 25.3% Y-O-Y

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that in 6 months of the year, Georgian mobile users sent 1.2 billion short text messages (SMS). If compared with the same period of 2019, the quantity has reduced by 25.3%.


    IN 6 MONTHS, REVENUES OF FM BROADCASTERS REDUCED BY 43.9% Y-O-Y

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that revenues of Georgian FM broadcasters totaled in 6 months of the year to 1.9 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has reduced by 43.9%.
