IN GEORGIA’S EXPORT FOR JANUARY-JUNE, COPPER AND FERROALLOYS ACCOUNTED FOR UP TO 30%
Sakstat released preliminary data for January-June, according to which copper ore and concentrates occupy the 1st position in Georgia’s export. For the reporting period, this article of export amounted to $216.12 million, increasing by 46.1% year-on-year and accounting for 17.5% of Georgia’s total export.
IN GEORGIA’S IMPORT FOR JANUARY-JUNE, OIL-PRODUCTS AND GAS ACCOUNTED FOR 13%
Sakstat released preliminary data for January-June, according to which oil and oil-products occupy the 1st position in Georgia’s import. For the reporting period, this article of import amounted to $285.18 million, increasing by 17% year-on-year and accounting for 7.9% of Georgia’s total import.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: BAKU-TBILISI-KARS RAILWAY WILL START OPERATION IN NEAR FUTURE
Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that most part of the project of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is already finished and start of the railway’s operation is planned for near future. First test train on the Georgian section had run already on January 29, 2015.
AJARA AUTONOMY AND ODESSA DISTRICT DREW UP PLAN OF COOPERATION FOR 2017-2019
On July 19, Ajara autonomy of Georgia and Odessa district of Ukraine have signed plan of cooperation development for 2017-2019.
Signing of the document was held within Georgia-Ukraine business forum, which gathered 250 representatives of companies, engaged in logistics, tourism and agriculture, Ajara government reported.
CONSTRUCTION OF BATUMI BYPASS ROAD’S SECTION STARTS
Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported that its Roads Department starts construction of 14-km section of Batumi bypass road. The works should be completed in 2020.
COOPERATION WITH OPIC DISCUSSED IN PARTNERSHIP FUND
Partnership Fund reported about the meeting, which held with managing director of the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) Kenneth Angell. The parties discussed ongoing projects and plans of long-term cooperation, the Fund said.
ROADS DEPARTMENT TO CANCEL CONTRACT WITH “ALTCOM ROAD BUILDING”
The government authorized Roads Department to cancel the contract with Ukrainian Altcom Road Building.
According to the government’s respective regulation, the decision is made after preliminary estimation of actual and legal risks.

South Korean flagship air carrier Korean Air displays interest in Georgian market, reported TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports).
TAV Georgia said that representatives of Korean airline held the first working meeting with management of TAV Georgia, which was held in Tbilisi International Airport.
LLC “PERI” TO GET LAND PLOTS IN AKHMETA MUNICIPALITY
According to the government’s regulation, state-owned property will be handed over to LLC Peri with right of development. The matter concerns land sites in Akhmeta municipality (Kakheti region) with total area of 400,000 ha.
