ACCORDING TO PRELIMINARY DATA, REAL GDP GROWTH IN 2017 MADE UP 5%
Sakstat reported that according to preliminary data, GDP in current prices in 2017 made up 38.04 billion lari that by 11.8% exceeds similar indicator of 2016.
Real GDP growth in the reporting year made up 5%, while change of deflator – 6.5%.
IN 2017, GDP PER CAPITA MADE UP $4,078
Sakstat released estimation for 2017, according to which GDP per capita in that year made up $4,078. If expressed in national currency, this indicator made up 10,231 lari.
THE EU PRESENTED IN GEORGIA ITS EXTERNAL INVESTMENTS PLAN
Today, the EU held in Tbilisi presentation of its external investments plan (EIP), which envisages mobilization of 4.1 billion EUR during next 4 years for investment promotion in Eastern Partnership countries.
Deputy head of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Katarina Mathernova, who headed delegation of the EU, participating in the event, marked out that partner approach within EIP envisages assistance to opportunities of business, trade and new investments.
FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS, THE EU ALLOCATED 30M EUR TO GEORGIA FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY PROMOTION
For the last 5 years, the EU allocated 90 million lari (about 30 million EUR) to Georgia through various initiatives, promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy, the EU representation reported.
As examples of implemented projects, the representation pointed at kindergartens in Rustavi, repaired with observance of energy efficiency rules; municipal buses in Tbilisi; 39,000 credits, issued for purchase of energy-efficient equipment, and projects on installation of solar batteries in Georgian monasteries.
SHOP OF GEORGIAN PRODUCTION TO BE OPENED IN MINSK
Specialized shop, where only Georgia-made production will be on sale, will be opened in Belarus’ capital Minsk, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared.
The shop, trading with Georgian wines, mineral waters, agro-industrial and another food production, will occupy area of 1,200 square m, the Ministry noted.
REHABILITATION OF RUSTAVELI STREET IN KOBULETI TO COST 1.5M LARI
Rehabilitation of Rustaveli Street in Kobuleti will be completed by start of tourist season, Ajara government declared. As the government noted, 1.5 million lari are allocated for implementation of the rehabilitation project.
NBG TO ISSUE COLLECTABLE COIN IN COMMEMORATION OF 100 YEARS OF GEORGIAN INDEPENDENCE
In commemoration of 100th anniversary of Georgian independence restoration on May 26, 1918, collectable silver coin with face value of 10 lari will be issued (weight – 15.5 g, diameter – 33 mm), National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared. The coin will be sold for 100 lari.
AS OF END OF 2017, “ALDAGI” ACCOUNTED FOR 52.6% OF TOTAL INSURANCE PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS
State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that as of December 31, 2017, contributions of private pension schemes had totaled to 6.39 million lari.
Out of total, Aldagi accounted for 52.6% (3.36 million lari, year-on-year growth – 8.8%).
AS OF END OF 2017, THREE COMPANIES ACCOUNTED FOR 80.3% OF OBLIGATIONS INSURANCE PREMIUM
State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted as of December 31, 2017 in insurance of obligations fulfillment (banking guarantee), totaled to 6.78 million lari (1.5% of total insurance premium for the period). At that, share of 3 companies made up 80.3%.
