    NEXT SESSION OF THE GEORGIAN-RUSSIAN COMMISSION ON BORDER DELIMITATION HAS BEEN POSTPONED

    The Georgian delegation, which left for Moscow today, was headed by the roving ambassador of the Foreign Ministry Zaza Kandelaki. As it has become known, negotiations, scheduled for May 23-24, are postponed at the request of the Russian side, headed by Alexander Yakovlev.


    LAW MACHINERY OF AUTONOMOUS REPUBLIC WILL BE RENDERED ASSISTANCE

    According to the decision of the President, the working conditions of the Prosecutor’s office, Interior, Security and Justice Ministries as well as courts of the Autonomous Republic will be studied and measures for their improvement assumed. As it is noted, serious problems have been emerging in the activities of these bodies because of absence of necessary conditions, limited working space, unsatisfactory material and technical basis.

    ECONOMIC FORUM HAS DISCUSSED THE CRITICAL SITUATION OVER BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION

    The participants of the economic forum, among them: former and current ministers, the chairman of the Parliament as well as heads of number of parliamentary committees and fractions, scientists, bankers, businessmen, representatives of international financial organizations as well as non-governmental organizations, gathered in Krtsanisi governmental residence on May 20. It was stressed that there is a crisis “not system but budgetary and structural”, and all efforts of state power branches are to be directed for its eradication.


    POWERS OF CUSTOMS AND TAX SERVICES OF ABKHAZ AUTONOMY WILL BE ACCRETED

    According to the decision of the President of Georgia, it is necessary to assume measures in order to return back EnguriHES and a number of other tax payers to the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia. As it is noted, without the agreement with the government of Abkhazia they were transferred to the country’s large taxpayers inspection for the control.


    SEVERAL SHIPS ASSIGNED TO SUKHUMI PORT PREVIOUSLY WILL BE PUT UP TO AUCTION

    According to the decision of the President of Georgia, the State Property Management Ministry and Council of Ministers of the Abkhaz Autonomous Republic are ordered to prepare in a short term proposals on transferring useless ships in order to sell them by auction. As it is noted, several ships of the Georgian Shipping Company were assigned to the Sukhumi Port before beginning of war in Abkhazia (1992-1993), upon their completion, they were functioning with a limited capacity.

    FLIGHTS OF THE AIR COMPANY BELONGING TO ABKHAZ AUTONOMOUS REPUBLIC WILL BE RESUMED

    The decree of the Georgian President envisages measures for complete revealing of the air company Abavia potential. As it is noted, the flights Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi carried out by the air company were canceled after the creation of the flag air company AirZena – Sakartvelos Aviakhazebi, as for flights Kutaisi-Moscow, permitted after continuous litigations, are unprofitable.

    ADO RAISED BY THREATS AGAINST THE AUTHOR OF TV SHOW 60 MINUTES CONTINUING

    On May 20, a number of mass media representatives applied to the president with the letter, asking him, as the constitutional guarantee of human rights, to take up and support the initiative group of journalists, created for conducting investigation on the present situation. We’ll remind to you that last week the author of the popular TV show 60 Minutes Akaki Gogichaishvili, detecting corruption cases, was summoned to the General Prosecutor’s Office where, in his words, the First Deputy Prosecutor General Anzor Baluashvili threatened him by punishment.


    GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT EVOLVED A PLAN FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE REFUGEES’ SOCIAL-ECONOMIC CONDITION

    To that end, according to the decree of the President assistance program for the Abkhaz government in exile has been confirmed. Its priorities are acknowledged to be financing of the Republic’s budget and timely delivery of financial aid to refugees.


    5 PEOPLE KILLED IN THE VICINITY OF TSKHINVALI

    According to the Interior Ministry, on May 20, unknown people opened fire to the vehicle, with 5 Georgians in it. There were 2 women among them.
