GEORGIAN SCIENTIST MAKES INNOVATIONS IN BIOTECHNOLOGY

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Zurab Kakabadze has held a presentation of a new way of curing liver, pancreatitis and other diseases with the assistance of the National Economic Club.
The author of the innovation says this method provides an alternative to the transplantation of organs, particularly, the growing of new organs from tissues fragments inside of patients’ body.

COMMERCIAL BANKS’ LOANS SLIGHTLY DECREASES

According to the National Bank (NB), by August 1, 2004, compared to the beginning of the year the volume of loans granted by commercial banks had decreased by 0.6% to 775.64 million lari.
At the same time loans granted in the US dollar made up 686.71 million in the lari equivalent (growth 0.2%), while loans in the lari made up 88.92 million (7% fall).
TEACHERS’ WAGE ARREARS TO BE COMPLETELY COVERED BY THE START OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR

The Finance Ministry has transferred 17.3 million lari to the budget to cover wage arrears of teachers in regions, Finance Minister Zurab Nogaideli told a news conference today. The teachers are to get their salaries by the start of the academic year - September 20.

DEPUTY KILADZE IS NOT CONTENT WITH MADNEULI MANAGEMENT

The deputy chairman of the Branch Economy Committee of Parliamentary, Vazha Kiladze (National Movement – Democrats) claims the new management of JSC Madneuli (ore mining and processing enterprise) follows the similar “criminal schemes” as the previous one under Zurab Lobzhanidze, former director general, who is wanted by the law enforcement bodies.
In this connection, Kiladze is not content with Vasil Tsotadze (since February of the current year he has been Madneuli director general) and his staff policy.

The Control Chamber of Georgia suggests to the Financial Control bodies of CIS states conducting of the joint revisions in the customs sphere and at the joint enterprises with the share holding of the state.

The chairman of the supervisory council of Saknavtobi, Soso Tsiskarishvili is indignant over the operation of the financial police, which has been checking this state oil company since June 1.

PARIS CLUB OF CREDITOR STATES AGREES ON GEORGIA’S DEBT RESTRUCTURING

The Paris Club of creditor states agreed to restructure up to $200 million from Georgia’s foreign debt. The decision followed the negotiations with Georgian Finance Minister Zurab Nogaideli, which ended yesterday in Paris.
