MPS DEMAND UNVEILING INFORMATION ON MP

Gia Baramidze, chairman of the United Democrats faction, suggested at a session of Parliament today adopting a resolution under which the General Prosecutor’s Office would have to introduce to Parliament information on offences committed by MPs, as well as the explanation for not holding them responsible. Baramidze explained that the proposal aimed at putting the lid on blackmailing MPs by the executive authorities.
A NET OF SEISMIC STATIONS TO BE ESTABLISHED IN GEORGIA

In its September 24 issue, 24 Saati cited Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili, currently heading the operation staff, as saying that the active phase of the anti-criminal operation will end in 10 days, and that the rapid information will be revised. On September 26 the newspaper specified, that, according to the Georgian power officials, there are no Chechen warriors in the Gorge, and that drug business is the operation’s only target.
COUNCIL OF EUROPE BACKS GEORGIA

Ex-speaker Zurab Zhvania has expressed satisfaction with the results of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which had adopted a resolution on relations between Georgia and Russia on September 25. Zhvania said in the Parliament today that despite Russia’s unsuccessful bid to undermine the resolution, representatives of all countries (except for 11 members of the Russian delegation) had backed it.
