    NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS: IN CONNECTION WITH “NAMOKHVANHES”, CONSTRUCTIVE AND PRAGMATIC DIALOGUE IN CONDITIONS OF FULL TRANSPARENCY IS NEEDED

    “The process, being underway in connection with construction of NamokhvanHES, in conditions of mismanagement of the situation, is becoming increasingly polarized and politicized and increases risks to national security”, Georgian non-governmental organizations indicated in the statement, released today.

    The organizations urges the governmental agencies and the investor (Turkish ENKA), as well as participants of the protests (in connection with construction of the mentioned hydroelectric power station) to take the existing threats into account and to start constructive and pragmatic dialogue in conditions of full transparency.

    AS A RESULT OF TRADES ON LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE, YIELD RATE ON GEORGIAN EUROBONDS MADE UP 2.75%

    Georgia’s Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili declared that as a result of trades on London Stock Exchange, yield rate on Georgia’s Eurobonds (placement totaling to $500 million) made up 2.75%. By fixing such low rate on Eurobonds, the budget will save about 350 million lari, he said at the news briefing today.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: “NOKIA” INTENDS TO ENTER GEORGIAN MARKET

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that Finnish corporation Nokia intends to enter Georgian market. The Ministry hosted a meeting with the corporation’s regional vice-president Mikko Lavanti today.


    GEORGIAN INNOVATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES AGENCY: AMERICAN INVESTORS CREATED A FUND TO FINANCE GEORGIAN STARTUPS

    Georgian Agency of Innovations and Technologies declared about signing of memorandum on cooperation with TECH Friends of Georgia.

    Under the memorandum, TECH Friends of Georgia will invest $500,000 in Georgian startups, the Agency said.


    AGRARIAN COMMITTEE INITIATED NEW CASE STUDY

    Georgian Parliament reported that a case study “Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Production and Sale of Agricultural Products” will be conducted. The study was initiated at the meeting of the Agrarian Committee, held on April 15.

    SPECIAL MANAGER REPLACED IN “CAUCASUS ONLINE”

    Georgian National Communication Commission decided to replace Mariam Sulaberidze as special manager at Caucasus Online with Tamar Bokuchava. Bokuchava has a 6-year experience of work in telecom field, the Commission noted.


    IN 2020, 5 COMPANIES ACCOUNTED FOR 90% OF PROPERTY INSURANCE PREMIUM

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that in total premium, attracted by Georgian insurers in property insurance in 2020 (108.3 million lari), 5 companies accounted for 90%, or 97.53 million lari. If compared with 2019, composition of the top five remained the same, but there are changes in positions of the companies.


    IN 2020, 3 COMPANIES ACCOUNTED FOR 69% OF FREIGHT INSURANCE PREMIUM

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that in total premium, attracted by Georgian insurers in freight insurance in 2020 (8.7 million lari), 3 companies accounted for 69%, or 6.02 million lari. The top did not change since 2019.
