    GEORGIA’S FINANCE MINISTRY: WORK WITH IMF COULD BE CONTINUED UNDER NEXT PROGRAM

    Georgian Finance Ministry declared that work with the IMF could be continued under the next program.

    As the Ministry said, issues of future cooperation with Georgia were discussed today at online meeting, held within the framework of annual spring meeting of the IMF and the World Bank.


    THIS YEAR, ANNUAL MEETING OF ADB TO BE HELD ONLINE TOO

    Annual meeting of Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be held in a virtual format this year too, reported Georgian Finance Ministry.

    As the Ministry noted, corresponding decision was made by the ADB executive directors’ board because of the COVID-19 pandemic.


    FINANCE MINISTRY DISCUSSED GEORGIAN-FRENCH RELATIONS AND COOPERATION WITH AFD

    Georgian-French relations, including ongoing projects of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Georgia, were discussed at the meeting, held in Georgian Finance Ministry on April 16.

    The meeting was attended by Georgia’s Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, French ambassador to Georgia Diego Colas and AFD regional office director in the South Caucasus Raphael Jozan.


    THE EU HANDED OVER 30 VEHICLES TO GEORGIAN BORDER POLICE

    The EU has handed over 30 off-road vehicles worth 693,000 EUR to Georgian Border Police, reported the EU representation to Georgia.

    As the representation noted, the vehicles are part of a package of 40 vehicles, 10 of which were handed over to Georgian Border Police in November 2020.

    SHARE OF 10 LARGEST PARTNERS IN GEORGIA’S TRADE TURNOVER INCREASED SLIGHTLY

    Sakstat reported that in Georgia’s total turnover for the 1st quarter ($2.77 billion), share of 10 largest trade partner countries made up 72.2%. This indicator made up 71.1% in the same period of 2020, respectively, this year’s growth made up 1.1 percentage points.

    IN 2020, LOSS OF “GEORGIAN RAILWAY” INCREASED 30 TIMES

    State-owned JSC Georgian Railway released audited report for 2020. According to the report, loss of the company amounted to 164.6 million lari, increasing 30 times year-on-year.


    “GEORGIAN AIRPORTS ASSOCIATION”: WE EXPECT THAT 40-45% OF THE PRE-PANDEMIC INDICATOR WILL BE RESTORED DURING SUMMER NAVIGATION SEASON

    Georgian Airports Association projected that 40-45% of the pre-pandemic showings will be restored during forthcoming summer navigation season.

    The Association pointed that foreign airlines are gradually returning to Georgian market, and up to 30 airlines will be represented by the end of the year.


    IN 2020, FINANCIAL LOSSES INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 38%

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that in 2020, Georgian insurers attracted in insurance against financial losses a premium of 8.7 million lari. If compared with 2019, the volume has increased by 38%.
