FORECAST OF “GALT&TAGGART”: GEORGIA’S ECONOMY IN 2021 WILL GROW BY 3.6%
Galt&Taggart forecasts that Georgia’s economy in 2021 will grow by 3.6%. The company notes that this is a pessimistic scenario, while in case of partial recovery of tourism, the economic growth forecast makes up 5%.
IN Q1, GEORGIA’S EXPORT TO THE EU DECREASED BY 5.3% Y-O-Y, IMPORT – BY 1.5%
Sakstat reported that Georgia’s export to the EU countries amounted in the 1st quarter to $156.6 million, decreasing by 5.3%, if compared with the same period of 2020. The EU countries accounted for 19.1% of Georgia’s total export.
IN Q1, GEORGIA’S EXPORT TO THE CIS INCREASED BY 4.2%, IMPORT DECREASED BY 2.6%
Sakstat reported that Georgia’s export to the CIS countries amounted in the 1st quarter to $366.7 million, increasing by 4.2%, if compared with the same period of 2020. The CIS countries accounted for 44.7% of Georgia’s total export.
IN Q1, COPPER CONTINUED TO LEAD IN GEORGIA’S EXPORT
Sakstat reported that in January-March, copper ore and concentrates were still the leaders in Georgia’s export. Namely, export of this article amounted to $158.8 million (year-on-year decrease – 0.8%), accounting for 19.4% of the country’s total export.
IN Q1, CARS CONTINUED TO LEAD IN GEORGIA’S IMPORT
Sakstat reported that in January-March, passenger cars were still the leaders in Georgia’s import. Namely, import of this article amounted to $168.5 million (year-on-year decrease – 12.9%), accounting for 8.6% of the country’s total export.
IN Q1, GEORGIA’S IMPORT OF AVIATION KEROSENE DECREASED BY 40.5% Y-O-Y
Georgian Oil-Products Importers Union reported that the country’s import of aviation kerosene amounted in the 1st quarter to 11,000 t. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume has decreased by 40.5%.
IN 2020, GEORGIA’S PRODUCTION OF WHEAT INCREASED BY 0.6%, CORN – BY 27%, WHILE PRODUCTION OF BARLEY DECREASED BY 13.8%
Sakstat reported that in 2020, the country produced 101,200 t of wheat, which volume has increased by 0.6% in comparison with 2019.
Corn production made up 263,000 t (year-on-year growth – 27%), while barley production – 46,100 t (reduction – 13.8%).
