    RUSSIA ACKNOWLEDGED THAT ON AUGUST 9 THE MINES ON THE GEORGIAN TERRITORY WERE DROPPED BY MISTAKE

    This is the information delivered by the Foreign Ministry of RF. The Russian side expressed its regret on this case, apologized and declared about its readiness to recompense the inflicted losses.


    THE MEETING OF THE PRESIDENTS OF THE 3 COUNTRIES SCHEDULED FOR FALL MIGHT BE HELD IN TBILISI

    We’ll remind to you that in Washington D.C. in April at the 50th anniversary of NATO the presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia agreed to create a Caucasian forum and planned their future meeting. The date of the meeting as well as the topics for the discussion will be defined by the presidents of the 3 countries.

    THE GOVERNMENT OF THE COUNTRY CONSIDERED THE DRAFT BILL ON THE LAND CADASTRE AND INFORMATIONAL SYSTEM OF THE LAND

    Today the draft bill was considered on the regular session of the Georgian government chaired by the President of the country Eduard Shevardnadze, who has just returned from his vacation.

    Introducing the document, the chairman of the State Department on the land Management Zurab Gegechkori noted that the draft has been prepared with the recommendation of the European economic commission, UN as well as existing experience in the management of the land recourses.


    BUDGET LOSING MILLIONS OF LARI DUE TO ILLEGAL AUTOMOBILE TRANSPORTATION

    As we found out from Revaz Tevdoradze, Deputy Chairman of Auto-Transport Department of Georgia, the yield from state-controlled automobile transportaton is three times as low as it should actually be. In 1998 budget intakes from auto-transport made up 16.5 million Lari, while, in the experts’ opinion, the sum should have been as big as 40 million.


    IN SEPTEMBER THE BANKNOTES OF HIGHER QUALITY WILL BE PUT INTO CIRCULATION

    This is the information delivered by the Chairman of the State Statistics Department Teimuraz Beridze, who under the order of the president presented the project on determination of the minimum cost of leaving. He noted that the existing system of calculating the minimal cost of leaving was put into force in 1995.
