Tbilisi Mayor Zurab Chiaberashvili plans to reconsider terms of a contract on leasing Tbiltskalkanali, the municipal company of water supply and sewerage, to the French General des Eaux for 10 years. The Mayor does not rule out that a new tender may be announced and the company transferred for management.
GEORGIAN BANKS ASSOCIATION PLANS TO CREATE TRAINING-CENTER FOR BANKERS BY EU FUNDING

The President of the Georgian Banks Association Zurab Gvasalia has said receiving of the EU grant for the creation of a training-center for people working in the banking sector is expected. For the equipment of the center in Tbilisi $150,000 is needed.
OMBUDSMAN’S INSTITUTION AND SPECIAL ARBITRATION TO BE INTRODUCED IN THE BANKING SECTOR

By the end of the year, the institution of an ombudsman and banking arbitration is to be introduced in the banking sector, Zurab Gvasalia, the president of the Georgian Banks’ Association, has told Sarke. A banking code of ethics, work on which has been underway since last year and is to end this year, provides for such mechanisms.
PARLIAMENT APPROVES SOSELIA AS CHAIRMAN OF CHAMBER OF CONTROL

TURKISH-GEORGIAN BUSINESS FORUM POSTPONED

The Turkish-Georgian business-forum, which was due to be held in Tbilisi on June 27-30, will approximately be held at the start of August, Sarke has been told in the Turkish embassy.
According to the embassy, the agreement has been reached by Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania and his Turkish colleague Tauuip Erdogan.

Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zurabishvili has announced plans at a news briefing today to set up an economic mission that will work in Central Asian states. The head of the mission would have a status of an ambassador, she said.

DONORS DECIDE TO DISBURSE AROUND $1B TO GEORGIA

Donors have decided to disburse around $1 billion to support Georgia’s new government for the period of 2004 – 2006, says the press release of the World Bank’s representation in Georgia issued today.
