President Mikhail Saakashvili told journalists today the composition of a new cabinet of ministers would finally become known in the middle of next week. So far, the President has named only one candidate – Zurab Zhvania on the post of Prime Minister.

Zhvania told journalists 15-16 ministers would be in the composition of the government.

The Financial Police is going to be established at the Finance Ministry, acting Finance Minister Zurab Nogaideli told a news briefing today.
The Financial Police will carry out operative functions and an analysis of infringements in the economic sector.
BUDGET-2004 PARAMETERS DETERMINED

Revenues and grants of the budget-2004 will make up 1.77 billion lari, which exceeds the parameters of the budget-2003 by 400 million. Expenditure will be at 1.93 billion lari, or by 350 million more than in last year’s budget.

NEW SUPERVISORY BOARD OF MADNEULI SEEKS RESIGNATION OF DIRECTOR GENERAL

The supervisory board of JSC Madneuli, which has completely changed its composition recently as insisted by the State Enterprise Regulation Agency, has appealed to court for the right to sack Zurab Lobzhanidze, the director general of this ore mining and processing plant.
The district court of Bolnisi, where the enterprise is located, made a decision at the end of last year under which the board is not authorized to release director general.
GEORGIA MAY BECOME ECAC MEMBER IN NOVEMBER

A delegation of the European Conference of Civil Aviation (ECAC) positively evaluates the situation in Georgia’s air sphere, Zurab Chankotadze, head of civil aviation administration, has told a news briefing today.
Members of delegation, who have visited Tbilisi during this week, got acquainted with security level of flights, quality of service at airports and other aspects.
NEW CHAIRMAN OF JSC MADNEULI SUPERVISORY BOARD ELECTED

Vladimer Gugushvili, professor of geology and academician of Natural History Academy, had been elected today as new chairman of the supervisory board of JSC Madneuli (ore mining and processing enterprise), Vakhtang Tsintsadze, a board member and a representative of the State Property Management Agency, told Sarke.
The board was completely renewed in January 2004, as insisted by the agency.

A New page of the mutual relationships with Russia must start, says Kote Kemularia, MP, the representative of National Movement introduced by Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on the post of Georgia’s ambassador to Russia.

AZOT PROPERTY SEIZED DUE TO DEBTS

The property of JSC Azot (the Rustavi chemical plant) has been seized due to its debt to the State Electricity System of Georgia (the dispatching and transferring service).
Andrei Parshutin, the director general of the JSC, says this is not a legal act as an overhaul program is underway in the plant.

Today President Mikheil Saakashvili has confirmed that Georgia’s new ambassador to Russia will be Kote Kemularia, head of the Parliamentary faction National Movement for Democratic Reforms.
The President says Zurab Abashidze, the current ambassador, was “Shevardnadze’s (ex-president) ambassador”.
