    Georgian National Tourism Administration declared that in 2020, meeting of executive council of the UN World Tourist Organization (UNWTO) will be held in Georgia.

    According to the Administration, respective proposal of the UNWTO secretary general Zurab Pololikashvili was supported at the 23rd General Assembly of the organization.

    The Minister declared this to journalists after the meeting with president of MEDEF International and French businessmen, held within the visit to France of Georgia’s president Salome Zurabishvili (August 27-28).

    By Chiaberashvili’s calculations, about 300,000 people could leave the scheme (participation in the scheme is mandatory for persons, who were below 40 years at the moment of respective law’s entry in force).

    According to TV company, the investigation accelerated after arrival in Georgia of representatives of European Investment Bank (EIB), who suspect that high-ranks plundered or appropriated the funds, allocated for the project of highway construction.

    According to the article, questions to Iashvili concerned financial activity of Intermedia and contracts, which are connected with sale of advertising time of Rustavi-2.

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that in total premium, attracted by Ardi Insurance as of March 31, medical (health) insurance accounted for 69.5% (against of 66% in the same period of 2018). In this segment, the company attracted 9.29 million lari, increasing the volume by 14.3% year-on-year.

    For ensuring transparency of projects, financed by Georgian Partnership Fund, it will be better if issuing of funds by the Fund to legal entities, registered in offshore zones, was forbidden at the level of law, considers TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International.

    As the organization specifies, some of projects of the Fund raise certain questions in respect of possible corruption.

    Referring to Georgian National Communication Commission, the newspaper reports that during the pre-election period of 2018, Georgian broadcasters aired free political advertisement of about 30 million lari, while paid advertisement amounted to 8 million lari.

    According to the Commission, free advertisement of National Movement’s presidential candidate Grigol Vashadze made up 9.75 million lari, one of European Georgia’s David Bakradze – 5.03 million lari, while Salome Zurabishvili, backed by ruling Georgian Dream, aired free advertisement of 2.65 million lari.

  20. CHANGES MADE IN SUPERVISORY COUNCIL OF “SAKARTVELOS BANKI”

    Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) declared about resignation of deputy general directors David Tsiklauri and Ramaz Kukuladze.

    Post of deputy director general for financial direction will be occupied by Sulkhan Gvalia, the bank said, noting that Gvalia had headed the direction of credit risks and corporate banking and is founder and director of company E-Space (electromobiles’ charging service).
