CEC’S PRELIMINARY RESULTS: ZURABISHVILI – 38.64%, VASHADZE – 37.74%

Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) published preliminary results of presidential elections, held in the country on October 28, according to which Salome Zurabishvili, backed by ruling Georgian Dream, got 38.64% of votes. The candidate of opposition union Strength is in Unity (core member – United National Movement) Grigol Vashadze won 37.74%.

TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, reported that income, received from all sources during the period from August 1 through October 15 by Salome Zurabishvili, backed by ruling Georgian Dream, and 5 major presidential candidates, nominated by qualified oppositional parties, totaled to 6.76 million lari. At that, the organization indicated that Zurabishvili’s income makes up 4.15 million lari (i.e. 61% of total volume) that exceeds about 3 times income of Grigol Vashadze (candidate of union Power in Unity, including National Movement) – 1.36 million lari.
